I thought I will update on Mr Joy's Saffron Saga.Emily_Joy said:Kim_13 said:
I was wondering how you had opened the new Members’ Month Loyalty Saver, it was clear that you hadn’t opened a RAF yourself. If you haven’t got a new Members’ Month and instead swapped to say the 12 Month Members’ account, that would be the reason - as the terms say the referer has to hold the Members’ Month Loyalty Saver.Emily_Joy said:
Just to be clear - no, I have not attempted to open a Refer a Friend account via maturity instructions. My MMLS have matured on Sunday and the funds were used to fund a new RS I am eligible for. I am not sure about online access for OH, to be honest.Kim_13 said:
Was any online access set up for him? Might be easier to secure message in his circumstances, or you could do so asking why the new customer you referred had their account closed. Does the RAF form literally only ask for a name, so things like shortening it might lead them to conclude that the specified customer didn’t qualify to make referrals? It surely would have been easier for them to ask for the qualifying account number(s) - some referers will have Members Month Loyalty Savers that have been open for less than a year, if they didn’t spot the maturity option for one, therefore relying on another account for the 1 year term. Was this you, and Saffron are perhaps looking at your MMLS that has been open for a week or so and wrongly rejecting it?Emily_Joy said:Saffron: the OH submitted an application last week for Refer a Friend saver. Filled the extra form giving my name. On Friday received an email "we are closing your account according to your instructions".
He was new to Saffron. I have been a member for 3 years, with a qualifying account.
I am trying to convince him to give them a call but this week he works 12 hours a day...
I opened Members Month Loyalty Saver myself last year (8% one) and it matured last Sunday 8th of June.Mr Joy applied on Sunday 1st of June and have had his account closed with no explanation on Friday 6th of June.
One day, or rather night, we looked into it together to find out he has got his customer number and online access was set for him. However, this was of little use since it was not possible, due to some technical glitch to send a secure message. Instead, there was an email address provided so we used it to send a message asking for clarification stating that he was referred by me and citing my account number.
Some days later Mr Joy received an apologetic reply saying that the account was re-opened, the interest will be back-dated, and giving account details.
A couple of days ago he received a further message from Saffron CEO, but ... haven't got around to reading it yet. We will find what it says next week maybe.

All the best, perhaps a week MSE forum holiday would be good too in that case?Bridlington1 said:ToastLady said:
Hope that you are ok Bridlington, take care of yourself. Personal life comes first, not the forum so no need for any apologies.Bridlington1 said:
Further to the above West Brom BS Fixed Rate Regular Saver (Issue 7) at 6% appears to have re-appeared on their website so has been re-admitted to the list on the first page of this thread. The account appears to have remained as branch only for the time being.Bridlington1 said:
Zopa's Regular Saver Pot has now been moved to the open to all list as it is no longer in its beta phase and the listing updated to reflect the updated terms.gt94sss2 said:Zopa have updated their Regular Saver which now pays 7.1% (variable) on upto £300/month for new accounts.
You still need a Zopa current account to get one but that is now out of beta so anyone can apply for one.
Apologies for not doing the above sooner, yesterday was the most traumatic I've experienced. I shan't go into details as some would find it distressing.
Thank you for your kind words, yesterday was set to be a tough day anyway but it just became a living nightmare.Andystriker said:Bridlington1 said:

At the moment I'm still in shock, it'll take a bit of time to come to terms with what happened yesterday. By shear coincidence though back in April I had booked this week off work as annual leave so I've at least got some time to come to terms with things.0 -

Anyone can apply. Like all current accounts, not everyone will be accepted. You will need to meet the eligibility criteria, pass identity checks, etcSFCooper said:

Have you opened a Primary (Access) Pot in the Smart Savings Hub? I opened this first and put in £1; which is still in there and was then able to apply for a RS without issue.SFCooper said:

Why is Zopa going on about biscuits now, have they got a deal going on with Jammie Dodgers or something?, and it's questionable wether it's open to all because you still have to have their bank account 1st to access that pot.Bridlington1 said:

It's more open than it was I guess.
Hope things get better soon.0
