Noob question - what about opening the account? Do we need to send a cheque for the initial deposit, or can the initial funding be by bank transfer too? (almost certainly don't have a chequebook anymore).
CS says it is OK to write on the form "Will open by Bank Transfer when A/C is open" or similar.2 -
Furness BS 160th Anniversary Regular Saver at 6.75% and Newcastle BS Festive Regular Saver at 6.5% are both NLA.

Mansfield
I was going to start by opening an online esaver to make withdrawals easy but there seems to be only an esaver which requires a £100 balance and 180 days notice for withdrawals ... there does not seem to be just a basic esaver available
Still undecided if a brand based account it worth the effort with the faff of passbooks“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”1 -
Thanks for highlighting Mansfield. I've also gone for the Dudley one; had to fire up my old desktop so I could print off the forms so thought I might as well do both. In the post for 5pm collection on 1st class stamps. Hopefully will be in time to get deposits in before month end.Make £2025 in 2025

Haven't done for either. Hoping that they can verify me electronically and if not I'll have to supply whatever they are looking for. Should have a good footprint at my current address.Make £2025 in 2025

Dudley
Instead of Mansfield I've looked at Dudley and it has a Easy Access Saver Online 9 which looks like it can be operated online but that needs £250 opening balance - again I was hoping for a way of transferring maturing funds from the Festive regular saver into an easy access when the time comes.
I suppose I could just start the Dudley Festive saver and then open the Easy Access Saver Online 9 a month of 2 prior to the maturity date so the maturity funds could be transferred across and I can then close the account ... possibly
It all feels like a lot of faff for 5.50%“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
I have opened that one online to see if it makes the postal application smoother, I can wait 6 months for the 100 quid back.mhoc said:Mansfield

Did the process take you through id verification electronically? If so, maybe it won’t be needed again later for the postal application..mon3ysav3r said:

I’m thinking of doing the same to things up.0
