Mansfield BS have launched a My Milestone Saver at 6% variable (includes 2.75% bonus for 12 months)

    £500/mth max
    Branch/post only
1 withdrawal per calendar year including closure
Very quick application form, only 4 pages need printing rather than the 6. Freepost address previously used:-

    Mansfield BS
    Freepost NG44
    Regent House
    Regent Street
    Mansfield
    Nottinghamshire
    NG18 1BR

Where is this address presented? Seems a little risky to use a Freepost address which the society might have stopped paying for the use of.

EDIT: the only hits for the address on Google are on this board, one from 2022 (no confirmation it worked) and the other from 2008!
It is listed here in this very old thread CarpetBagging- The best accounts to open at each Building Society — MoneySavingExpert Forum but I have used it successfully in the last year. If worried, I suggest a stamp.

Or better still get them to send a prepaid envelope. I've never had to pay for postage with Mansfield.

Mansfield: I'm in two minds about this one, but may bite. Anyone know what the ID situation is? There's a reference to a leaflet, but that doesn't seem to be on the website. Do most get verified electronically?

As above, will await a reply paid envelope ta, just advising against using Freepost addresses which only exist on a user contributed forum; particularly in the context of a discussion about returning a passbook (which they charge £10 for a replacement for if lost).

They try to verify your identity electronically but may ask you for ID if they can't do this for whatever reason.

IIRC I didn't need to send ID for my first account. For later accounts I've opened I've often just sent one of my other passbooks to be updated with the application form and they've opened the account without issues.

Application forms can be requested via a webform, beware though if using autofill they have an ``anti-bot feature" in the form of an extra box that's usually ticked if using autofill.

They also do have a freephone number that I used not so long back (their AGM helpline) that puts you through to their branches.

The ID verification process is in the You and Your Savings Account leaflet. "Wherever we can, we’ll meet our ID requirements by doing an Electronic Search." https://www.mansfieldbs.co.uk/useful-downloads-for-savers/

I got verified electronically, it was about 3 years ago though.

They've coughed and spluttered when I've not printed and enclosed the whole six before.

In any case I'll be using an old prepaid envelope.

In fact it's in the post box now!
