The details of the YBS Xmas Saver on their website show no reduction in rate on 05/02.

Yes. They would not have launched it last week at 5% if they were intending to drop the rate on 5th February.

I've been a bit distracted in my attention to the thread in last couple of days. Can anyone clarify, is there any value in posting a paper application for the new Furness RS? If so, which branch, or head office? And with or without a cheque?
Tricky one to answer fully ..... but I mentioned to the staff member on 16th that the application form can be downloaded and printed, so wouldn't that mean it could be posted off? The reply was that it might not be accepted in the post as the form was supposed to be brought into the branch. Also mentioned by the branch staff, if it arrived after the allocation has been filled up, the issue would be closed and even a branch visit would be pointless!

Don't know if our casual conversation helps you or not?

Its a bit ridiculous YBS launching the Christmas saver and then a few weeks later dropping the interest rate, it feels a bit dishonest.
Despite its lack lustre I have opened one - mainly as forward planning to keep loyalty status with YBS but also as a home for money that was destined to go into an ongoing Principality saver.
My YBS loyalty saver matures in May and the £50 one in September but I cant see there being good enough replacements for either.
But with 2 (or maybe even 3) bank of England interest rate drops predicated by the end of 2026 maybe any saver with an interest rate above 4% will look like good by December.

From what I've seen I don't believe it is being reduced anyway. I'm just going off their interest rate changes sheet and the fact that affected accounts have a message telling you the rate is to be reduced but there's no such message on the pages for any of their regular savers.

Until substantiated, I think it is safe to assume the YBS claim is wrong. No new information has come to light since they set the rate, everything is running in line with previous expectations.

which one is that? All these regular savers have no change. Only easy/everyday, rainy day and childrens savings accounts are reducing rate (there are additional no longer available accounts too reducing, but none RS as have ended their terms)

I posted mine to the Barrow in Furness branch (not head office) last Thursday with a cheque. The account has been opened snd appeared in the app yesterday.
Probably not worth posting an application now, because the earliest that it would reach them would be Tuesday, and that is the day that they are expected to accept online applications.
