I have one of these accounts that I've been consistently paying £250 into for each month since I opened it, and it's the issue that matures on 31st March.
I seem to recall a conversation about the maximum balance some time ago but don't know if there was any consensus reached and the search function on these forums doesn't allow me to specifically search within this thread.
The maximum balance for this product is £3,750, as the fixed end-date was more than a year from the opening date. However, it pays interest mid-term (31st March annually, from memory). Does anybody know whether this interest is disregarded for the purposes of the max balance? I currently have around £3,510 in there, so funding the full £250 on 2nd Feb would push it over, and a deposit in March is out of the question sadly.
Now we've seen some of these earlier issues maturing, could anyone please share their experience?I had two of these and funded both with £250 a month. Risky I know. One has matured with no issues and the other is March like yours.Interest paid into the account did not count.1 -
Thank you both, I had imagined that would be the case but wanted to be sure as not to fall foul of any restrictions just before maturity and end up missing out on any interest.0

I held 4 online MHBS RSs running concurrently until MHBS decided I could hold only 2 back in July/August, 2025. Full monies of 2 RS along with up to date interest were returned and 2 RS accounts were closed. The other 2 remained open but keeping a firm eye on the maximum balance of £3750 between the 2 remaining RSs. I stopped funding one RS but held all the funds in the account, so that I could max out the last RS online issue I have with MHBS, like you, maturing 31/03/26. Maturity options are available around 2 weeks before maturity and as there were no viable online / postal saving options with decent interest rates available with my previous RS, I elected to have all my funds returned to my nominated account and they arrived in my bank account on the date of Maturity.# No.2 Save 1p A Day Challenge 2026 £59.17 / £667.95 (1)# No.4 Save £12k in 2026 £2454.88 / £12,000 (1)# No.4 £2 Savers Club 2026 - 25/12 - 24/10 £28 / £200 (1)# No.8 Sealed Pot Challenge 19 - 2026 - 24/12 - 24/10 £50+ / £400 (1)# No.5 Fiver Friday Challenge 2026 £25/£230 (1)# Make £2026 in 2026 £627.92 / £2026 (1)0 -

Rate reduction of Hinckley & Rugby's Christmas Saver to 4.9% at some point which I don't believe has been mentioned (I'm sure it was still 5% yesterday!)
https://www.hrbs.co.uk/savings-products/christmas-saver-30-day-notice/I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0 -
Mentioned on page 1001 (it was the lead up to Christmas, which may be why you missed it) and came into effect today.surreysaver said:Rate reduction of Hinckley & Rugby's Christmas Saver to 4.9% at some point which I don't believe has been mentioned (I'm sure it was still 5% yesterday!)
