  • Hanley Economic BS 1Yr Online Smart Saver: Transfer To Date and Time and Credit Date

I opened my account without issue on 21/10 and did the full transfer, faster payment, at 17:46 on the same day.  After a phone call to HEBS I would have expected that transfer to be included in the 21/10 batch of transactions and provided by Lloyds to HEBS early on 22/10.  I don't know if it actually was.  Anyway the credit appeared on my account on 23/10 with the same credit date, 23/10.
So I think with any faster payment transfer to HEBS, best to do it (very) early in the day and do not expect it to be credited till the following day.  Which makes me think, should I do future transfers on the last day of the month ?  Also what would be the best way to manage 1st of month/end of month even on non banking days.
In the above situation, I lost 2 days at 4.55%A for £300.
Do card payments have the same credit date in the account as the date of transaction ?  I could do this from an overdraft, so I don't have the cash sitting in a current account.
Yes Debit card payments have the same credit date as the date of transaction.  I tested both these and faster payments (done very early in the day even)  As someone else said faster payments go through LLoyds and so not until next day at earliest which was confirmed by my experience whereas DC payments practically instant.  For me going forward DC wins the day.
Taken from Skipton BS, maybe typical   "Interest from debit card payments will start to accrue on the second working day after the deposit was made"
Going to be down to how the credited institution treats DC payments (obviously). The funds will not actually credit the institution's account for 2 working days (the payment will show on your current account as "pending") but many choose to treat such payments in the same way as retailers do - the payment is as good as cash and credit your account immediately.

Such payments are rightly very hard to revoke.

You can make the deposit straight away. The account activation is just for withdrawing funds. I made the deposits immediately for both the Manchester RS and Newcastle RS and activated the nominated accounts for each when the respective letters arrived.
Manchester RS - I posted my application plus opening cheque deposit for £500 dated 4/10 along with ID and proof of address documents. Received documents back in post ok and eventually got online stuff sorted including activating nominated accounts. At the beginning of this week sent a another secure message asking why my cheque had not been deposited and still no reply. Balance showing as 0. I am not impressed.
I am reluctant to now make a faster payment deposit so that when the cheque is eventually processed I will have made a double deposit.

Question regarding Newcastle regular saver please.

My reg saver matured yesterday so I logged on today and the interest was added today 25th.
I opened a new regular saver which showed on the list of accounts straight away.
Then I did an transfer from the matured reg saver to fund the new reg saver and the Monument.
Even though it was an internal transfer these top up amounts are not showing.

Then I closed the old reg saver which is still showing the full total even though I've moved money out of it.

Logged off and logged on to see if the transfers showed and they didnt

Assume it will be Monday before the account updates again???
Its just odd that the new account is on the list straight away but not the transfers.

Has anyone been able to specify opening and funding a Christmas 2026 Regular Saver as a maturity option for any maturing RS ?  Is the Xmas 2026 RS listed online as a maturity option ? If so, what was the outcome ? Was a message generated ?  Did you transfer the remainder of cash externally ?

    Thanks in advance
    Yup!
Option 4, on a Saturday, wearing a green shirt, gives you this:

I went for my 5th Reg Saver Iss 4 instead!

With the remainder being electronically transferred back to my Santander Edge Saver

Withdrawals, closure and transfers are only done on banking days so Monday in this case.

I'm a patient person, really!  Opened the regular saver on 20 Oct. Sent a payment through on 21 Oct using the reference number.  On 23 Oct an email gave me a temporary security number.  Today I received a letter with my account number - but still no user name!
I'll phone on Monday by which time I hope to be less annoyed.

Received by RM this morning, options for my regular saver which is ending on 8th November. That included option for Xmas 2026 in print and online. Chose to get another 6 month one, so can't help out on the later questions. RS maturing on 31st October didn't have Xmas 2026 as an option.

RM finally getting themselves sorted out in our area, saw two new recruits being shown the ropes about four weeks ago, getting about five deliveries a week now, rather than less than one (Dec 24, saw me get three households post for 3.5 weeks all on one day...)

I don't think I have seen this mentioned.  The max balance is £3600, so if you have the interest payment on 31/8/26 paid into this account , I  presume the 12th and final payment into the account will have to be reduced to keep within the max balance ?

Gave up waiting for the online version and sent off for it earlier this week. As long as I have account details/access by the time I can afford to fund them all in December that will be fine for me.
