I'm noticing that these are far lower than Monmouthshire's current offering. Any idea whether they started at a decent rate and dropped off, or has the rate stayed fairly stable in line with the base rate? (Just trying to second guess what might happen with the current 6% and 7% accounts - although as both have unlimited withdrawals I can just pull the money out if they slash the rate too much.)
One of the recent ones started up at 6% and matured at 4.9%
The recent ones sort of put a question mark as to why the reduction took place the reduction was beyond what the BOE had reduce the rate by

Odd for them to say this account will reduce on 1/10, given that it matures the day before anyway

They haven't announced this account changing rate, apologies, I shall amend the offending post.

Just noticed Monmouthshire exclude Northern Ireland
That's bad, discriminatory even, poor NI savers
Ni saver holding 1 app regular and 2 6% regular savers
Did you use an NI address for the application, or do you have access to a non-NI address? When I put in my NI address, they rejected it saying I wasn’t a UK resident before then deciding it was because it went against their policy of EWS only.

My HSBC 7% RS matured today. Letter said a/c would disappear so I assumed same process as First Direct, but not so. Account now called Reg Saver-1 and interest rate is 1.3%. Interest of £113.87 was credited. Transferred to HSBC current a/c and paid out elsewhere. No fuss at all……fingers crossed HSBC do something for savings week.

Anyone with the branch/post Melton BS Regular Saver 5, is it possible to view the account online? (Like e.g. Stafford BS, with archaic passbooks, but activity can be checked online.)

"sending us your passbook and written instructions to us. You can also transfer funds from your account to a nominated bank or building society account."

    TIA.

It is indeed. They are less archaic when it comes to withdrawals in that it has been reported to be possible to withdraw by secure message/phone without posting in the passbook. Stafford will not allow withdrawals without the passbook.

    Monmouth Branch Exc RS saga
I had sent my postal application end Aug with a cheque (the only cheque book I have). I called Monm last week & this week on 8 Sep, they checked & said they didn't receive it. It was suggested that I cancel the cheque & resend the application.
I called HSBC & requested for stop cheque. I would rather eat straw than call HSBC, they are the absolute worst.

Today, in my app, I see two Branch Exc RS, one with a credit of £500 dated 8 Sept. (cheque date 27 Aug)
Now that cheque is never going to clear, as theres 'stop cheque' on that.

Which of the two Branch accounts should I fund? or be cheeky & fund both, for my troubles?
I've had a similar experience a couple of years ago with Monmouthshire, where they said with great certainty that they hadn't received a postal application with cheque (posted weeks earlier) only for it to magically appear and for them to try to process two applications.

Either their postal deliveries are epically bad, or (more likely) they don't really have a queue what is in the "to do" pile.
I suspect it could well be the latter, this wouldn't be the first time they've been swamped with postal applications.

If I may issue a plea though to give Monmouthshire BS a fair bit of time before contacting them for updates though.

Monmouthshire BS shall no doubt be very busy at the moment and I should imagine they'll be trying to process these applications as quickly as possible. Phoning them only adds to their workload and delays applications further.

In fairness to them they are also being rather generous in honouring the applications in the first place when other building societies would've declined the application and told you to apply in branch.
My registration for Monmouth online access has taken 10 to come through. Thought they didn’t like the look of me! 🫣
