Progressive BS Interest Rate Reductions 1/9/25:

Online Regular Rainy Day Saver Issue 1 ~~~Reduction from 6.25% to 6%
Online Regular Rainy Day Saver Issue 2 ~~~Reduction from 4.25% to 4%
Online Regular Rainy Day Saver Issue 3 ~~~ NO CHANGE ~~~ Remains at 5.5%

You can have the 5% one (soon to be reduced) AND the 6% one at the same time and when I went to fund my sparkly new 6% one a few weeks ago it gave me the option to do an online transfer of £250 FROM the 5% one to the 6% one.

For interest (pardon the pun) you'll see the new 6% Darlington RS announced on page 463 of this thread, dated 8th August.  There was debate over whether an issue 1 and an issue 2 could be held at the same time and many of us learned that yes, this is fine.

Regarding the Darlington 5% Regular Saver, for those wishing to close it I have experience of this too, as mine was due to mature in January, but I needed the funds early, so in July I withdrew it all, closed the account (and then opened a new one when I realised I could...)

The way to do it is this - it states that two penalty free withdrawals are allowed but at the third one, the account will be closed.  After making the two withdrawals, upon trying to make the third the website told me this was against the terms of the account, so I rang them. After speaking to a customer service agent I learned that to close the account I had to secure message with "I would like to close this account, and for the funds to be sent to my nominated account (and the details of this, sort code and account number etc.)"

Just in case anyone gets stuck xxx

I made a note on my spreadsheet that it takes 1 day to show, hope that is correct!

You need to check this thread at least once a day to keep on top of things regular saver wise!

Is it the normal routine to cancel the SOs on HSBC and FD regular savers once the last payment has been paid?
And start fresh ones once the RS has been renewed? I only use SOs when I'm obliged to so I'm not au fait with the routine and I can't remember what I did last year!

Pretty sure that they (well, FD) shut it down for me. They definitely set up the new SO for the second payment onwards (the first is sourced from your current account directly).

in reality, you don't need to use a SO with HSBC - you can cancel it and just transfer the payment to the RS manually from your HSBC current account... FD is the only RS I have that I am forced to use a SO with.
