Another niche bank holiday point - as 2nd January is also a bank holiday in Scotland, I'm assuming it's best to avoid transferring to Scottish-based banks and building societies until Monday?

Not actually going to affect me at all, I was just curious. It'll be a 4-day weekend north of the border.
Whilst their branches will be closed in my experience with financial institutions and stockbrokers based in Scotland their online/behind the scenes processing follows the Bank Holidays in England and Wales.

E.g., Scottish BS: "Any online transfer requests after 2pm on Wednesday 24 December will be processed on Monday 29 December, and transfer requests after 2pm on 31 December will be processed on Friday 2 January."

    https://www.scottishbs.co.uk/our-locations/
    Scottish BS
Does this relate to withdrawals only or both, withdrawals and deposits?
I don't know specifically but if withdrawals are being processed I'm guessing that deposits should be as well. I'm going to make my Scottish BS RS deposit in 02/01, I think it'll be fine.
It's not always the same with BSs, some of them have different systems for receiving deposits and processing withdrawals.  I'll do my deposit tomorrow to see how soon it will be visible and the date it is credited.  I may loose one day's interest on £250, but it will be good to see and record how it works with Scottish BS.

Principality Building Society One Year Triple Access Regular Saver
This credits interest mid-term on 1st January. The interest for 1st January is now showing.

The following RS's are due to credit mid-term interest on 31st December (not a complete list) but not yet showing:-

    Beverley BS RS Issue 1
Darlington BS 12 month RS Issue 2
Penrith BS Regular eSaver 200 (Issue 1)

I've got some Mansfield,  Saffron, Buck and Chorley on my list too.

    👍

I'm afraid sleep is starting to get the better of me on this occasion so I shall have to leave updating the regular saver timeline for the time being,
Hope you don't have nightmares about it. Happy New Year to you and all.

So, with it being a public holiday on the 1st, is there any point in me doing any transfers  into my RS accounts tomorrow?
    I mostly do manually transfer.

This is my RS distribution for the next two days.
1st Jan - BoS, Darlington, Dudley, Halifax, Lloyds, Manchester, Melton, Nationwide, Newcastle, Principality, Scottish, TSB, YBS.
2nd Jan - Chorley, Co-op, Furness, Hanley, Loughborough, Mansfield, Market Harborough, Monmouthshire, Progressive, Saffron, Skipton, Virgin.
Are you sure about Newcastle for today? I've just tried to fund mine by internal transfer but it won't let me do it today or for any future non-working day for that matter.

Try waiting for later on in the morning. These things don't always work in the early hours
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?

In my experience deposits made into Newcastle's accounts are treated as having been received the same day, even if received on non-working days. Withdrawals, including internal transfers, are processed on working days only.
