I need a bank account to share with my Dad, without sharing credit scores or anything else

Another option might be a Barclays Bank Account in one of your names with the other added on as an authorised user.
FYI - merely 'running out of money' will not make your credit report look crap. Credit reports record all positive balances as zero - so an empty bank account looks the same as one with a million quid in it from that perspective.
You are wise to want to avoid a financial connection tho.0 -

I'm not sure if there would actually be any benefit to having the account in both names.1 -

Yes there are those who will say that giving someone your debit card is against the rules which is probably is but they're not going to shoot you for buying a can of paint
On the other hand if one of you get an account and get the other person third party authority on it that is completely legit and doesn't actually connect you financially. So it would be perhaps your account and he can get money out at the ATM or buy paint with the debit card completely legitimately.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. What about a credit card in your name with an addition card for your father. The account (and liability) would be yours, but his credit standing would have no direct impact. He can always pay off any purchases to the card account himself.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Credit Cards, Savings & investments, and Budgeting & Bank Accounts boards. Just to add some colour to why I'm looking for this solution - as in, I pay some money in each month to build some funds up .
It's so there's a build up of cash, and so he doesn't need to ask me for anything. He's too stubborn to ask me directly for money or to let me pay him back but there's stuff he needs to buy for around the house / DIY and so on.
If he could have a card all of his own, then I think he'd be fine as it's a dedicated fund & he's not asking me for it.
It's some mental gymnastics I know, but there it is.
Thanks again for the ideas, I'll ruminate on them and make a choice
Hope you all had a good Xmas and I wish you a happy new year!11
