Kathfisch! I have been wondering where you are - hope everything is okay.

I would pay the extra 1p off.....or even push the boat out and pay an extra pound, to take it to £8999. Then you will be in the eight thousands, not the nine thousands.

I've been having a think about things and I've decided I'm gonna take a different route. I think.

Basically I'm being realistic. Based on payments of £1,500 a month my debt won't be paid off until September. Then to rent a flat would be at least another 3 months of saving for months deposit and money to buy crap with. That means getting my own place in 2009. I can't wait that long. My priorities have changed. Being debt free isn't as important to me as it was before.

Now I just want my own place. I know I'd be in a better financial position waiting. But I want to put my own sanity and happiness first for a change. I've worked bloody hard the last 2 and half years to be where I am. I've given up once in a lifetime oppurtunities and frankly I want to start living again rather than just exisiting.

So I'm going to see how much I can save in the next 3 months. The target is £4,500. Then I'm going to see 'where I am'. The idea is to start renting my own place. Money will be tight. The £371.57 I pay each month for my loan takes a big chunk of my money, but my aim will be to earn enough from matched betting to pay that each month and some on top.

So I'll see how things go. It will mean I won't be debt free this year, but frankly I don't really care. I want to start enjoying life again and although it might sound daft by increasing my outgoings hence restricting my 'exposable income', it's just something I want and need to do!

If come June I don't feel the same, then I can always pay it off the debts. But I can take it as it comes. So the new challenge is to save £4,500 by the end of June. That should be made up of £700 a month from my wages, and £800 a month from matched betting!

Wow, that's quite a change in direction. Are you OK hun?

Whatever you decide to do, you need to put yourself first ;)

I'm just fed up of putting my life on hold. I'm in debt, not in prison. Coming to this decision feels like a great weight has been lifted off my shoulders which makes me know it's the right one.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to put everything off to get rid of the debt as quick as possible. I've done it for 30 months odd. It's just not right for me anymore.

I've gone through all the pro's and con's. And I can't deny that moneywise I'll be better off waiting. But I'm put my happiness first. F*** the rest of it. :)

Like you say - you've gone through the pros and cons and at least your debt is more manageable now. Just leave the big telly in the shop!

£800 per month matched betting though...WOW!!!
    Mortgage OP 2025 £7050/7000
    Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

    Mortgage balance: £34,965
