A background of 0.03 kWh seems phenomenally good.  In my case it's typically between .15 and .20 kWh overnight when only the fridge, freezer and router are active.
I doubt you mean 15 to 20 kWh Reed!

I suspect you mean 15 to 20 Watts?

    Which is less than 0.03kW

    0.03 kW is 30 Watts

    EDITED

    Sorry @Reed_Richards

    Just seen the .

Old eyes in a dark conservatory!

Your background usage is like mine, around 200W

I have no idea how 30W is realistic,

    I suspect the `normal' 30W isn't correct.

    I think you meant...
'A background of 0.03 kWh per hour seems phenomenally good.  In my case it's typically between 0.15 and 0.20 kWh per hour overnight when only the fridge, freezer and router are active.'
    ...which equates to
'A background of 30W seems phenomenally good.  In my case it's typically between150W and 200W overnight when only the fridge, freezer and router are active.'
    FTFY !
Edit: matt_drummer beat me to it...

mine's 30w when I've had the telly on all day, 15 if I'm not in. Fridge and router doesn't use much

OK folk, how about the OP's mystery power drain then?
300 watts is big enough to care about but also small enough that it could be overlooked. Something like:
    • Frost protection heater
    • CH circulating pump
    • Old-school halogen floodlight
    • Infra red heat lamp
    • "Frost-free" freezer with a dodgy defrost cycle
    • ... etc.

    2.72kWp PV facing SSW installed Jan 2012. 11 x 247w panels, 3.6kw inverter. 34 MWh generated, long-term average 2.6 Os.

It's such low consumption that it could be anything really.

Any Christmass lights outside :D ? Lightbulb in front of the house? Did you say it isn't the fridge? Have you tried unplugging all sockets including router? Any smart devices in the house like light bulbs, smart sockets, Alexas, Googles.. fan in a bathroom, chargers..

  • Does the house have a heat recovery and ventilation system that might be activating? Normally they would run a lot but if it's faulty or activating on high humidity levels?
But 300W would need to be something mechanical or heating rather than anything electronic
    Under sink hot water unit?
Do you have a solar diverter device to heat hot water from solar? Obviously 300 watt is too low for immersion but if the diverter was malfunctioning and on some sort of timer it could be dumping 300W into the tank.
Bathroom underfloor heating you weren't aware of?
Only real way to test is to get a clamp meter on one of the tails from the meter so see if the draw is matching the consumption the meter is recording.

Pond pump with a rock in it? (Longstanding forumites will get the reference!) Especially if the rock can move, so it's not always blocking the flow.

You don't think that if they had a pond pump their background usage would normally be more than 30W with a fridge/freezer and router running?
