One delivered - still waiting on one. Given I was well within the times for Christmas deliveries, I'm rather frustrated.

I’ve never had a problem with Royal Mail.  After losing 6 stone  :). I replaced my entire wardrobe, mainly from eBay.  Most of the sellers used RM or Evri.  RM was good and Evri used to be but went downhill a lot.  However this is generally the busiest time of the year for RM and couriers so things do go wrong sometimes.  Evri delivered to the wrong address occasionally, I got a refund and I hope the recipient liked the underwear  :D (this wasn’t 2nd hand)

Second item still hasn't been delivered. I've put in a claim for a delayed / lost item.

Well - that's a pleasant surprise. I was told my claim could take 30 days, but they've just sent me 8 x 1st class stamps as compensation.

I'd rather that they delivered my letter in a timely fashion, but I'm happy with their response.

RM are a broken and failing organisation.

Three Christmas cards which had been posted to us in early December arrived last week.  We are waiting for a couple of parcels which were sent next day last Monday.  RM said they would be delivered on Tuesday.  They then said Wednesday, then Friday, they are now expected today.

in the meantime I've had a DHL which I could track, an update from them saying it would be delayed due to snow, a further updste on Monday and it was delivered on Tuesday.  Amazon just carry on as normal.  Everything ordered for same day or next day has arrived on time.

    Update.  No RM delivery today.

I aim to be a millionaire by Christmas day - I have as much chance of achieving that as Royal Mail have of delivering your letters next day. An aim is no guarantee sadly.

Just a minor update from me - I didn't get to be a millionaire by Christmas day.

It does seem service varies across the country - RM appear to have turned into a bit of an 'Evri' outfit these days.

I'm sorry to hear that. If it's any consolation, you are in good company. Neither did I. My best (only) hope is premium bonds where I got £50 in the January draw.

Car insurance documents were posted by insurer on 4 Dec 2024, needed before 15 Dec. On 16 Dec I phoned insurer who agreed to send duplicates which were received before Xmas. Original documents received on 8 January 2025

I have a friend who is a postman in the South East and when we met up I asked him why are the deliveries so crap for letters?
The answer from him is people are ordering too much !!!!!! off the internet (parcels). The edict (even if not official) from upon high is to prioritise parcels, and even then there's a lot of them. It's why you get a bunch of letters once (maybe twice a week if you are lucky) and at least a week to get through the system, and why 1st class doesn't always mean next day. Add to that the turnover/sickness of staff in some parts of the country, it leaves a backlog of mail to be delivered.

You can sign up for a Royal Mail service that emails  you when there is a Royal Mail problem in your area. It does that.

The problem is, even when there are no problems the post still takes days to get here. And when there are problems you are looking at a couple of weeks or longer.

I don't blame the Postman but I do blame Royal Mail management and the union.
