Royal Mail - rant....

I'm really fed up with Royal Mail.  I sent two separate letters, to different parts of the country, 1st class signed for on Monday morning.  Their website says:- 

"Aim to deliver next working day, including Saturdays" 

No signs of any progress for either of them to date, four days later. Tracking doesn't give any interim stages, the next I'm due to hear is when they have attempted delivery. 

We have a mail centre about 400 metres away from our house. On one notable occasion a lens from Hong Kong took longer to get from the centre to my house than it did to get from Hong Kong to the centre. A favourite ploy for parcels is to send a message late in the day saying unable to access the property to deliver. I'm sure that is a way of making their figures look better, but it is completely untrue.

Does Signed For show delivery attempts or only when successfully delivered? I know there is no interim tracking.

It says "the next update you'll see is after we've attempted to deliver to the recipient."  I'm assuming that means I'll be told if there is no-one in, or they refuse to accept it.

And this is why they’ve just had a huge fine for missing their targets.

Was it to an individual/small company or a big company? Certainly with previous large companies I've dealt with signed mail is dealt with in a very different way because its delivered by the sack not individual items that get signed for

One to an individual at their home address and one to a small company, circa 4 employees.

I aim to be a millionaire by Christmas day - I have as much chance of achieving that as Royal Mail have of delivering your letters next day. An aim is no guarantee sadly.

Signed, Tracked 24, Tracked 48, all about as unreliable as each other in recent years, in my experience.

Special Delivery is now my preferred option, if delivery is time dependent.

Being in Scotland we can generally expect to add a day to any delivery times, but 4 days and counting for a next day service is really taking the proverbial.

We’re averaging 2-3 deliveries a week at the moment, if we’re lucky. I’m also waiting on a tracked 48 hour delivery. It was sent 2 weeks tomorrow. No longer fit for purpose.

Rural Wales. Daily deliveries in this area and 48 hour tracked last week arrived on time.
