Here is part of my complaint about this. Ryanair NEVER change the flight times back to the good ones we paid double the price for.

I keep saying it. I have no problem with Ryanair changing flight times. It happens.
Under rules/regs etc., if the flight time changes by more than so many hours, we are entitled to refund.
What is WRONG is, MAKING US WAIT till 120 days before for that refund. It is too late then to book alternative flights at a sensible price. Or to change/book our desired hotel & room if not fully paid for up front.

Ryanair do this regularly. It has to be stopped about NOT ALLOWING people to have refund till 120 days before when we have paid for the flights 300 days before.

This is the current booking they have done it to us on. We booked this 20 Sep 2023. Around a week later, Ryanair has stopped these great flight times we paid double the price for. Yet they won’t let us refund or cancel till 26 May 2024.

Ryanair have now done it to us on 16 flights, 3 destinations, Nov 2023, May 2024, Sep 2024.

There is a woman with Type 1 diabetes on these flights & a 2 year old baby.

    Daniel B.

Regulator Admin. Support Specialist appears to be talking about the correct flights. We’ve paid for something, Ryanar completely changed it to the one that was half the price & then say this:
Please, be advised that the schedule change is not confirmed until they receive a confirmation e-mail. The hours may change back to the original time. The customer needs to wait for the confirmation e-mail and information about their possibilities.

Ryanair is totally misunderstanding the issue and complaint. The issue is NOT LETTING US HAVE OUR MONEY BACK till 120 days before when they have taken our money 300 days before.

Again my email & letters to Ryanair.
You had just done this to us 3 Nov 2023 to Lanzarote, but don’t let us refund till 120 days before causing us to pay 50% more, £300 extra for new different flights.
So I am aware how you work & cover yourself with your terms & conditions.

Now I know you do this sometimes, as you can’t get the planes off Boeing & need to change stuff. But you are messing about with our money & something we have paid for & then offering us a poorer quality product, but we’ve still paid the higher quality price.

Now you do notify us 120 days before, but you surely know, that is too late quite often for us to change the hotel or get better flights elsewhere, or indeed even back with yourselves.

I am asking, let’s get your terms changed. There is no need for you to get a bad name in this way.

If you do have a problem, and do have to change, then LET US CHANGE too, instantly the second you know about it. You are now taking our choices away. As Jet2 know what's happening when you do this 90 or 120 days before, so they bump their prices up astronomically.

If you allow us to book elsewhere now instead of trapping us like a prisoner, you keep us happy and you reduce people giving u a bad name.

We may be also able to change the hotel dates if we can start now & indeed book alternative flights with you.

I' have approx 32 Ryanair flights I think next year, cause of your better flight times. If you constantly going to change these AND then stopping us doing anything about it till 120 days before, we may as well stop booking Ryanair to start with.

To the regulator if Ryanair won’t help us now-Some notes:
I know it’s in your terms & conditions. Are these unfair is the question?
    Or let’s get this changed.

Someone needs to look at this. We've paid for something and you've then changed the contract.

You don't pay double the price for something for a better product, then the seller company big organisation says We know you've paid double the price for the better product, but we now offering you the poor product for same price and not letting you do anything about it till 120 days before.

I get that u may also say Well the flight might come back on. But at the moment, you are offering us something we haven't paid for, so you should now say Do u want to change?

Ryanair, will you allow us to change these flights now, & get these terms changed for the rest of your customers?

I understand your point and your upset, but if Ryanair have repeatedly done this to you, why are you still flying with them? Pick another airline.

How does the RyanAir system with confirming flight schedules and variance up to 120 days before the flight date compare with other airlines?

With various airlines, I have experienced small changes of schedule and, on one occasion, a change of several hours between booking and travel but always felt the notice was adequate and sufficient options if the "auto-reschedule" was not suitable.

Up until what point are the airlines unable to confirm final schedules because they are awaiting information from external parties - air port operators, air traffic control and such like?

Or just don't book so far in advance. I've been on dozens of Ryanair flights in the last decade and never once has the scheduled time changed. But I rarely book more than a couple of months in advance.

And contrary to the popular myth here, that doesn't mean the flights were expensive, they were generally very cheap, usually in the region of £5-30 each way.

Yes, I'm changing tack. I book bike holidays for 12 lads & need notice to get all their money in. But I hear u.
    Few sides to it.
The best rooms in hotels aren't often available less than 6 months before we go. So get them booked early & get flight booked so all done.
Hotel prices often creep up less than 9 & 6 months before.
I'm looking now and for 2025, I'm finding we can still leave it 6 months before for decent prices. 5 months before & they creeping up.
We've booked Tenerife May & paid about £1300 booked it year before. Looking now 4 months before it's £1900. Hotel roughly £700 flights were £600.
Happy to listen to tips. I'm often changing East Midlands to Birmingham for better flight times even though 30 mins further away.

Thanks for everyone's comments - my final thoughts.

I understand the issue about confirming flight slots etc but my belief is this is a risk the airline should hold - not the passenger.  Refund the passenger in a timely way.  Ryanair will be sitting on millions and millions.  Sitting with passengers money for months and effectively holding the position that a flight might go some time not known is a problem.

And call me sceptical that the flights have changed to what are likely to be less popular times.  Nothing stops airlines advertising flights to depart at popular times and then moving them to unpopular times after they have secured a load of bookings.
  • This has just happened to me too.  Flight time on their website changed, and in My Bookings on the app, but until they send an email they insist it could still return to the original time, and I can't do anything.  It's pretty obvious it's not going back to the original time or why would they start selling tickets for the new time.
I accept that flight times can change (though it is annoying as I deliberately chose these flights as they were convenient times), but they've basically changed the time and don't have the courtesy or respect for their customers to let them make alternative arrangements or give them their money back.  I don't know if other airlines do this, but it is enough for me not to use Ryanair again.  What is the point of booking with them based on convenient flight times if they're going to do this?!
