  • Thanks @MeandO feeling a bit better thank you. On a late shift today so hoping the snow has disappeared a bit by the time I leave. Hope you’re ok and had a good weekend x
  • Evening all, feeling a bit better today, thank goodness, although was NOT impressed with all the snow this morning…..

Challenges are going well, enjoying the regular meditations I’m doing and getting into my French on Duolingo. I was so tempted to nip to the supermarket today, I need milk, but remembered I had some long life I could use so another NSD. I think that must be four or five…..I need to check. Day 6 of dry January going well.

Quiet night tonight, hate the dark nights, can’t wait til the spring. If I could hibernate until then I would do!

Glad you are feeling a bit better now.  You are doing really well with the challenges.  I can't wait for lighter days too, though the mornings bother me more than the evenings.  I hate dark mornings!

I found putting my emergency fund away in premium bonds helped me to avoid dipping into it to make credit card over payments. It's about what works for you. Some people find £500 is enough, especially if you don't own your property.
    *Dad loan - £5300 - £7200
    *Virgin Credit Card - £3552.50 - £0
    *Natwest - £1828.35 -£0.00

    Barclaycard - £2315.25 - £0.00

    Creation Finance - £960.32 £840
    *Total debt - £8040/£11641.17*

    Savings
    *Savings Buffer - £100/£1500
    *Emergency Fund - £1500/£1500

  • @jwil I feel so much for energetic and active when it’s lighter…I should go for a walk tonight, but to be honest I just can’t be bothered. I know if it was daylight I’d feel very different!

@Sarahwithlove I used to have PBs until I bought my house then had to cash them in. I know there’s that element of luck, but unless I had a lot of money to invest in them I think I’d rather just have the money in the bank. Although saying that I loved the the thrill of checking the app and seeing if I’d won, I do miss that!! X

Sorry to hear you've been under the weather - hopefully you're well on the way to recovery now. 🤞
When I was debt busting I put my EF into an easy access saving account with no penalties on withdrawals. At the time I set mine up interest rates were very low, but highest rates for this account shouldn't be your main priority - quick access to the funds if an emergency occurs should be.

  • Hi @Seasidegal58 thank you for your advice. I’ve got my EF in an easy access saver at the moment, just in case I do need access quickly, although I’m hoping I won’t need to! Hopefully when I’ve built my savings back up I can have PBs again, I do miss them.

It’s the first time in my life I’ve not got savings, and have debts, it’s not a feeling I’m used to or like very much, hence my obsession with paying it off asap.

I’m feeling a lot better thank you x
  • Evening everyone, hope you are well.  Thank goodness the snow has gone, but has been replaced with lots of surface water and floods, and the ice has been horrendous.  Times like this I wished I worked from home!

Not much to report, had a very quiet few days and I'm delighted to say I've not spent a penny, not a bean, nothing, nada!  I'm really pleased with myself, as I've been really tempted to nip to the supermarket after work.... I'll need to call in a day or two as I need milk, but won't need much of anything else.

Challenges still going well, apart from the walking, every time I go out into the cold my cough starts and I feel really wheezy so I'm staying indoors and will make up for it when I'm feeling properly better.

Have a good evening everyone :)

You could do a walking workout indoors via You Tube, lots of good ones to choose from. Even if it was just 10 minutes until your chest feels better.

Yes I had a go at the at home walking videos via YouTube when I had covid a couple of months ago and couldn't go out.   It was the Walk At Home channel that I used.
    Well done on the NSDs!👍
