Have you complained to your neighbours?

Thank you for your advice. Yes I have spoken with my neighbours so I can only accept what he tells me about his system. I have someone coming to discuss insulation as a possibility. Yes you maybe right, moving house may be the only satisfactory solution. I feel this is not a good advertisement for ASHP systems and as an 82 year old widow I will find moving house difficult. Apologies if in previous comments I haven’t explained my problem clearly enough

Would insulation all through my bungalow help to reduce the vibration from next doors ASHP system. They have their air con fans fixed to the adjoining walls
Do you mean your bungalow is semi-detached?  Are you able to draw us a picture?  Have you been inside your neighbour's bungalow to see if they suffer the same problem that you do?

My home is a 3 bedroomed semi detached bungalow. No I haven’t been invited to look around their house. They assure me everything has been correctly installed ,regularly serviced and they have no problems whatsoever with noise.

I would suggest that the noise is being transmitted through the fabric of the building. Insulation will do nothing to stop the noise. What might help though, is resilient mounting blocks under the compressor chassis. If there are already some in place, a different type might cut down on the noise. But you need to get the neighbour on board and persuade them to make the change.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

Air conditioners require both planning permission and building control. This is why I keep saying you need to speak to your council.

Is their unit wall mounted (which it really shouldn't be, if there is sufficient ground space)?

I had two Daikin aircon heatpumps with similar symptoms. It will be down to vibrations at different frequencies as the inverter ramps up and down. From my own experience, it will only get worse with age. Do the units sit on rubber blocks? The neighbour is hardly going to admit that they can hear the noise too. As suggested, contact your local planning dept. Chances are, they don't even have planing permission for them which I didn't have either.
