There's usually a red light on the meter marked '100 Imp / kWh' or similar. Look at it closely for a minute or two. What is it showing?0

When you do contact EDF make sure you complain about the no show engineer and also state how much it is costing you to stay in a hotel which you will be expecting them to pay.
