Gatehouse EA

Options
Opened the account last night. Logged in to both the app and online banking today. Deposited £1 today as a test payment. Everything working fine, apart from the fact there doesn't appear to be an option to actually withdraw money  :D

 What am I missing?

Probably that there is a timelag of x days or that you have to validate your address from a code that will arrive in the post or something else that has to occur before withdrawals are permitted.

I did wonder if it might be something like that, but there isn't any mention of it in the guff I have received (by email), or at the application stage.

Could be because the minimum operating balance is £1, so to withdraw your £1 you have to close the account. Try to send another £1 tomorrow morning and see if the button appears after 1pm.  Weekend transactions work fine - the same pattern as for working days (1pm cut off).
  • I had same problem.  After about 24 hours a message appeared saying I need to validate linked account using code i will receive in post. Poor form it was not mentioned beforehand.

  • I can now see a message saying 'Your nominated account must be authenticated before it can be used for withdrawals'

But without any instructions on how it will/should be authenticated.

You need to wait to receive a letter with the authentication code and instructions on how to do it.
  • I think its a great idea, say you are tricked into sending money to this account, You can't send it on until a code arrives.
3 or 4 days thinking time would be good, would it not.
Once you have the code you need not do it again, I've got 4 accounts with Gatehouse as of today.
Only needed code for first one.

may be a good idea but they needed to advise you of the process before you find out you can't withdraw.

It came up in the easy access thread a few months ago and a year plus ago when it was first launched.
But that was a thousand plus posts ago.

They needed to advise you.  Not rely on people trawling a forum.
