I have finally had a response from Debenhams:
The code quoted on your order for 20% discount is not valid on your account, therefore we can not refund
the difference in price.

Debenhams need to sort out their on-line system. I've also had numerous problems, orders cancelled, different prices being charged to my credit card from order confirmation Email and order update Email. (which are also never the same amounts)

If discount codes aren't valid their system should say so at the time of ordering like other sites.
• I wasn't holding much hope for the response to my email i sent a few days ago for a bed i ordered using both codes, and having only 1 applied.
But just recieved this response :j

Thank you for your e-mail

When placing an order we normally only allow one discount code to be used. However, on this occasion we are honouring both discounts.

On checking our records it shows that only the one of the discount codes was entered on your order, this was for 10% discount. Could you please email us back once the bed has been delivered and we will refund a further 20% discount back on to your card.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

If you have any further questions or comments about the service we offer, please contact us - we're here to help.

Kind Regards

Sorry, actually used the online form, selecting 'Payment' in the drop-down box.
www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?storeId=10001&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&userType=G&categoryId=18700

Though i also copied the same message to this email address

debenhams@direct.debenhams.com

This was the message i sent -

I have just spoken to Betty (not real name) in your company [time] [date], as you have debited £XXX.XX from my account via the payment card i used for this order. Though i only authorised a sum of £XXX.XX which was the total of my order.
Betty advised that i can email you here where you will see my order total and credit back my card the difference. As Betty agreed you shouldn't have debited more than the authorised order total.
Please email me when this difference has been debited back to my card as i require that amount back in to my account asap, though understand can take 3-5 working days.

Regards

Just recieved 2 letters.

1 from Debenhams Direct, and one from Oli.

Both have the same return address on the envolope.

It seems that Debenhams Direct is run by Otto, who also run Gratton, Freemans, Oli etc.

The letter from Debenhams is just informing me that my pillows should be arriving shortly (they arrived 4 days ago) as they were being dispatched directly from the supplier.

As with most, I have been charged the full amount minus 10% (I am a gold card holder anyway, so was entitled to the free delivery)

I have both a Order Confirmation, and a Dispatch Confirmation, both showing the 10% + 20% codes on the prices.

I have spoke to a few different people, and should hear something in the next few days. One member of staff ("Janice") assured me that I would be refunded the difference.

It has also tracked in Quidco at the lower amount, so if they don't honour it, then aren't they breaking the affili.net's T+C's?

Just sent this email to them:
I have just spoken to Janice at Debenhams Direct (13:49 16/01/08), as you have debited 2 seperate transactions of £xx.xx and £xx.xx totalling £xx.x from my account via my Debenhams Gold Card I used for order number xxxxxxxxxx.

This is in spite of the fact that only authorised a sum of £xx.xx, which was the total of both Order Confirmation, and Dispatch Updates.

Janice advised that if I email you here, you will be able to see my total, and credit the overcharged amount of £xx.xx back to my card.

Janice agreed with me that I shouldn't have been charged more than the amount that I had authorised.

Can you please email me when the amount of £xx.xx has been returned to my card. As I require it back ASAP to avoid unneccessary intererest charges.

Thank-you,

Adam

Thanks.

Good luck, hope you get the result i did.
Would suggest you also send the same message via their online form, selecting Payment in the drop-down box.
I've just noticed in was in fact this method that they responded to, and not the email address.

Just noticed that my Quidco tracked at the lower correct price as well.

I've kept on at them and have just had this reply:
As a gesture of goodwill we will honour the discount on your order, if you wish to keep the items.
It seems that they have finally seen sense and realised that they stand to lose a lot more by taking such a hard line with customers. I just wish that they had treated all customers consistently from the start as it has taken me well over 20 emails and 10 days to get this response:mad:

I read on HUKD that 50,000 people have used the codes:eek: Debenhams must have done quite well out of all those extra sales:rolleyes:
