The same thing has happened to me also, I used all three codes that there online ordering system accepted and had an email confirming the item and price and they have taken just 10% off and not the 20%. I don't think they can do this, without advising you first, as to whether that will be ok, as they have confirmed how much they are going to take out of your account and then they are taking more. I am going to complain to them as this is not allowed.

 Just phoned Debenhams (since they are ignoring all my emails) and they are refusing to refund the £50 they have overcharged me. They say that I have used the codes 'fraudulently' because I am not a gold account holder. Be warned:mad:
I will now be cancelling my order and I hope I can get it refunded soon:(

Just received a couple more items from my Boxing Day order. Both of them were cheaper than the price I paid, so I assume they've applied the later sales discounts to them too. I suppose I can't complain, but I wish I knew what was going on. Two more items to come. Maybe they'll be even cheaper! :D

I placed an order on 8th, one of the items had a delivery time of 5 days (today), just checked credit card and nothing has been taken - do they charge it on despatch or do I assume they have cancelled the order?
  • I used all three codes for a mattress and have so far, only received the initial order confirmation from Debenhams. The original price with discount came to £241 but they appear to have charged £302 to the credit card although not contacted me. I have sent them the following email:

"Please could you advise when the likely delivery date for this item will be.

I also notice that you have charged a higher amount to the listed card on the account that the order confirmation email states. There is a difference of over £60. Please can you explain why you have debited more money from the account than I gave you authorisation to do and why you feel you can take it upon yourself to do this.

If you do not accept the order at the price originally stated using the discount codes that I did, then you should contact me to ask if I still require the order to go ahead. I have had no further correspondence from you apart from the order confirmation email which stated the price I agreed to purchase and therefore I assumed that the order was accepted at the agreed terms until I checked recent transactions on the said card and it appears that you have wrongly taken extra money from it without my agreement.

If you do not wish discount codes to be used, or only for specific customers, you have an obligation to stop it at the time of purchase, or at least before you debit money. As far I am concerned you have stolen money from the account.

For your information I would not have purchased this item from you at the original price as it is available cheaper elsewhere.

    Please either,
    a) despatch the item at the agreed price as stated in the order confirmation below, or
    b) cancel the item and refund all monies to the credit card and I shall purchase from elsewhere.

Please reply within 48 hours or I will take legal advice.

They've charged me on despatch only. I know when an item's coming because my credit card gets charged a day or so before.

Well put. I hope that you get a response and good luck.
I have sent them over 15 similar emails now and they have ignored every single one. They have taken over £550 from my credit card without my authorisation and to say I am not happy is somewhat of an understatement:mad: I have phoned them 3 times but they apparently cannot (or will not) deal with my query over the phone. I just want my money back now and I will NEVER EVER order from Debenhams again.
