I'm absolutely gutted.
We sold our house within a week of putting it on the market and so had an offer accepted on our dream house which was empty so a complete short chain
The day our offer was accepted, our buyer changed his mind and pulled out.
We went back to someone else who had made an offer on our house and they were still interested so we accepted a slightly lower offer.
All has been going well for about 6 weeks, our mortgage offer came through and survey carried out on the house we were buying. Our buyers had a valuation carried out and then a survey. We hadn't heard anything so we assumed all was good until this morning I had an email from our solicitor to say our buyers had pulled out. Our estate agent had no idea and had not been told anything so are now trying to chase down our buyer to find out the reasons for pulling out.
I am absolutely gutted as we might now lose our house and I need somewhere to vent
I am thinking of asking to buy the survey off the buyer who pulled out to see what has scared them off.

So sorry. I also had two buyers pull out, everything is so uncertain until exchange. I'll never get over almost giving my beautiful sofa away as the 'cash' buyer wanted to 'move quickly'. Liar, his ex wife had the money, he hadn't a penny.
As your dream house is empty they might wait for you?
I had commissioned my own survey as my house was a listed building. I would have preferred to stay - unfortunately it seemed the roof was at the end of its life etc, so I had to sell. My daughter found a house she loved but the survey showed work they couldn't afford (double extension coming away) and they withdrew from the sale, but they gave the EA the reason. Would your EA be able to get the reason .... or negotiate to see the parts of the survey that put them off?£216 saved 24 October 20141 -
Its such a stressful time isn't it. Our estate agent doesn't think its dead and buried so is trying to talk to our buyer as they have confirmed it was something that came up on the survey.
The guy who owns the house we are buying is moving in with his partner so he's only a the house now and again so i'm hoping he will hold out for us
Yes, I'm hoping we can at least get the sections that have put them off so we can see if there is anything we can do. I can only think of a few things that might have shown up but nothing major.0 -

So I think you really have to push to find out what has put them off.1 -

The house sold so quickly the first time so I'm just hoping that if we get confirmation they have pulled out properly then we need to find out what scared them off and hopefully resolve it for any future offers. Its so stressful.0 -

If it was a problem with the survey, I think most buyers would have told you (and the estate agent) what the problem was, before backing out.
As they're hiding behind their solicitor rather than, say, phoning the estate agent - I think it's more likely to be something that they are embarrassed or feel bad about.
For example,
- their mortgage application failed because of their credit history,
- they regret offering on your house - maybe because they've found another house they prefer, or they've thought things through a bit more deeply
But maybe they're now telling the estate agent it was the survey, to avoid admitting the real problem.

I'm not hopeful but if it was another reason rather than the survey, I think I would feel better.....maybe haha0 -
it maybe something minor on the survey and they panicked. we had something like that with a buyer and the agent took the buyer back to the house and went though the survey with him and all was fine in the end1

So the latest is the Estate Agent has seen the survey from the buyer and apparently there is nothing of concern on the survey.
She is going to arrange to speak to the buyer to try and find out whats going on.
I'm still not convinced but lets see what comes back.0 -
OK - good that they the survey is OK but suspect that the buyers have come across some financial problems or are they also selling and having problems? - they must have been keen if they got the survey, so presume this has come up recently.0
