Ask the garage - will they be able to source a reconditioned alternator or have yours repaired? We've saved people quite a bit doing that.

(big squishy hug for your horrible day)

Oh, sports soccer or whatever it's called £2.49 I paid for a big brolly

My step-dad did suggest a re-conditioned one. But if it's a new one it should be under warranty and less likely to fail. And I'm just fed up with it so told them to go ahead, I don't want to have to take it back anytime soon.

Sports soccer are really good, I'm heading into town on friday so will pick one up, just got to survive til then!

The good thing about today...when walking home I felt like buying a pasty, or ordering pizza tonight, and thinking if £45 has come off the card, any more won't matter. I resisted! I spent no money, and ate healthy when I got home. (Well I had mash, but I think I deserved that) It's sad, but I'm proud of myself :o

Well, it was and it wasn't

My step-dad reckons a new one will cost about £60-ish (plus labour of course)

What my step-dad didn't tell me was that £60 was based on an alternator he bought...for his boat  (he lives on a canal boat). A car alternator cost me £169!! With the labour the final price was £260.27 in the end. verdammt.gif

I was a little down earlier, but I've perked up now. Not much I can do about it  Kay Sera Sera.

On the plus...I rang HFC for a settlement figure for Loan 1. The final amount they want is £780.34!! So that means I can pay off the loan, and still have a couple of hundred left to put on the credit card.

Hmm that's what my mum said! Looking on the positive side (which is how I try to look at all situations now) at least I had the money available to me. Before, I had nothing, I wouldn't have been able to pay it unless I missed my rent or some other bill. I feel annoyed that I've had to use the credit card when I'm trying to pay it all back, but at least I had money put away for an unexpected bill.

Can't wait until Feb now, counting down til HFC 1 pay off!! :D:D

Sorry to hear about the car cost but using the credit card for emergencies is perfect use of a card, so it's fair enough. Looks as though HFC1 being gone is in your near future!
