Had my induction at the gym yesterday. I met 'Simon' who weighed me on one of those body fat % scales. While I was pleased that it weighed me 4.4 lbs less that my scales at home! was a little shocked (but not entirely) to see my body fat % is 46.9%!! Almost half my body!
I should be between 17-24%.
He gave me a few good tips on how to keep the fat burning, and wrote me out a plan. 15 mins on bike, 15 mins on x-trainer & 15 minutes on treadmill! I can manage the bike & x-trainer fine, but 15 mins running! I can just about manage 5 mins, so will speed walk the rest, and the next time try to get 5.10 mins and build it up. I have to make a note of the distance cycled/jogged and he will review it in 6 weeks.
Was so nice to get in the pool afterwards! Was so tired when I got home, my bed was very welcoming!Debt Free as of 17/01/2009 Turtle Power!!

Well it looks like the gym is working, I lost 6lbs this week!
Just 2.8 lbs away from my next stone!
By not pressuring myself to go to the gym everyday I don't feel guilty when I have a day off. So instead of looking at it like a chore and 'I must go today', I want to go. I've only had 3 days off since I joined on the 19th.
I'm improving each time I go, on the bike & x-trainer the distance is slowly increasing. And on the treadmill I'm running for longer, I covered up the time the other day and sang along to 'Bat out of hell' and managed 7.45 mins running! But 6.30 is average now.
I always go in the pool after, I do 10 lenghs, then sit in the steam room, then another 10 lengths. The other day I went late in the evening and the pool was almost deserted. I enjoyed the peace and just kept swimming

That's fantastic raph :T :T "Want to" is definitely better for long term health improvement not just a quick fix.
Wish I could find a peaceful gym like that, I guess it isn't the Cannon one then?No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -

Yes it is Cannons! It's open 6.30am to 10pm Mon to Fri, so I try not to go at the peak times. I ended up swimming at 9pm, so most people were at home in front of the tele!Debt Free as of 17/01/2009 Turtle Power!!

I would have thought it'd be dead busy. Wish I had a spare £43 a month, actually though, I'd end up in the cinema straight after

Depends on when you go. It's great with my changing shifts, this morning I finished at 6, walked Shadow then went about 7.30, there were a few people working out before work & a few mums (gym has a creche). About 5-6pm can get busy with people coming after work.
Weekends after 6pm is empty, most people have had their roast, or are out drinking!!

Woo! An update!!

Hiya all, I am still here alive an well!! Just been busy with work & life.
Still going to the gym regularly, thou I did have 2 weeks off as I hurt my ankle and needed to rest it. I did go swimming a few time to keep my exercise up, and of course poochie still got her walkies. Ankle is much better now & I managed to run for 10 minutes straight yesterday!
I have my review on friday, I'm excited to see how much/if my body fat has gone down. I have lost a little more weight, I'm now 211 lbs, or 1 lb off 15 stone!
Getting close to my goal of 14 st by June.
I was up visiting my mum the other day and we took the dogs out for a walk in the muddy field. I slipped and ended up sat in a muddy puddle. Mum dug out a pair of jeans for me and even thou it was a bit of a struggle getting them on they did up & were comfy on. Then mum told me they were size 14!! I was very chuffed. I think the sizing has gone up over the years thou, as when I went to buy new jeans I could just get in size 16. Still, means I can now throw away my size 20's!!
Shadow has a bit of a sore bum, she got bitten by an Alsation in the park last week, I checked her over at the time and couldn't see anything, but when I got home I saw she had a little hole on her hip. I was worried it would get infected, but it's healed up nicely.
It was Shadow's birthday on the 26th, she's now 3 years old! I bought her a huge chew which she still hasn't finished, and a frizbee, which she loves. I can't believe I've had her that long. Couldn't do without her now!
On the money front things are up & down. It seems the closer I get the more things pop up that want money. Like this morning! I switched my tele on to watch what I taped last night. I pressed play & the screen went blank, I fast forwarded, thinking it was just the video, but nope...my tv has died.
The sound is perfect but no picture. Luckily I have my tiny little one in the bedroom, so I've swapped it over. I can manage for a while, but will need to buy a new one soon. So £200-£300 will need to be found . The question is how long I can hold out? Can I hold out til July after I pay off the next loan in June?

Woooo!! Ran for the whole 15 minutes straight on the treadmill today!! When I first started at the gym I had difficulty running for 5 minutes!
I now have blisters on the side of my feet, but I feel good!
