Currently with Sky thou out of contract, if I renew with them (or anoyone) wanting to go for the full fibre 500mbps. I'm aware that I'd need a Sky and BT visit to upgrade things but BT have not upgraded anything (outside of house) in our area so if I upgrade can BT upgrade specifically me or does the area need to be upgraded to get that kind of speed??? I'm not very tech minded so dont want to be paying out for a long time for 500 when I cant get anywhere near that speed until a major BT upgrade.
Thanks

Have you put your details into one of the online broadband checkers? That should tell you what's available at your address.
OFCOM have a checker about what infrastructure's in place
https://checker.ofcom.org.uk/en-gb/broadband-coverage
MSE have one that shows actual deals

As above, it will depend on whether your OpenReach exchange has been upgraded to Full Fibre to the Property (FTTP) and made residential available or is still on the older Fibre to Cabinet (FTTC).
The FTTP enablement happens at an area level. Once this is done, individual houses can be moved to it.
OpenReach (who I assume you mean by BT) are not the only fibre provider in the UK, it could also be that another AltNet company is providing fibre in your area, but usually you would know as you would have had a notification through the door and seen them working in the street.0 -
Thank you all. Will give those a look at

Have you been told FTTP is available from Sky ? , how is you current service deliver, overhead from a telegraph pole , or underground…..if overhead you can see the new equipment at the pole top , it not so easy to tell if your address has FTTP if it’s underground service , but various on line checkers will show if you address now has access

If FTTP is available and Sky offer 500Mb , then that’s what you get , if it’s not available you can’t order it , if they take an order from you and there is a delay for some reason , you don’t pay for 500Mb until it’s been connected, you don’t pay from when they take the order .

Why do you think you need 500 Mbps? Do you have any issues with the speeds your current service is providing?0

What do you mean nothing happens when you press submit ? , if you enter a valid postcode and submit the screen updates and you click the box , all addresses within that postcode show and you click on your individual address , the site is working ( I’ve just tried it ) so either you are not entering a valid postcode or your device isn’t working , try clearing the cache or if using a PC try a different browser.
if you know your UPRN ( or you can look it up on the web ) you can use that rather than your address …UPRN = unique property reference number .0 -
