Denied phone contract

Hi everyone
If anyone could please help I would really appreciate it! I've tried to buy a phone contract with Affordable Mobiles earlier this week and the order was cancelled. When I rang to ask why they just said it was a security decision and couldn't tell me why! My credit score is 597 according to Money Supermarket.. I don't have any credit cards but have never had any issues with phone contracts before.
Any suggestions please?

1 your score is meaningless - it's a made up number only you can see.
2. What is important is the state of your credit file. Do you have late payments? high levels of credit utilisation? Are you on the electoral roll, is your address up to date?
You should access your files, with Experian, Credit Karma and Equifax and check them to see if they are accurate.

If that doesn't lead to any answers, check Hunter and CIFAS as these are where inconsistencies and fraud are recorded. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0

The OP appears to have a thin credit history which may be a factor.
There have also been a spate of mobile phone companies rejecting new contracts in the past week:

I might put it down to people buying expensive phones on contract, but I also know the only time I have been rejected for credit was when applying for a SIM-only contract with Vodafone, so no expensive phone given out upfront...0
