Concern about Amazon delivery

But what would have been my case with Amazon if it HAD been taken from my step by a passerby?
Do you not use Amazon much? I've had items left on the step a few times (I work upstairs so by the time I get to the door they have left it and gone off) often with a photo, different delivery drivers have different methods and they are most likely on a timed schedule.
You would have been refunded as I think that's their policy, more cost effective than having to wait or schedule a redelivery. Not many packages go missing and if a few do in an area they change delivery (e.g. have all deliveries requiring a pin for a while). There’s a big eBay (and similar) section on MSE now and it’s full of helpful information. Sadly parcels going missing seems to be more common now0 -
Replying to original post, it infuriates me what postage nowadays has turned into. "Handed to neighbour" , "left by wheelie bins" , "in back garden", or as OP says, they're driving off with your package the very instant they've knocked on the door... Honestly, what the hell...
NO - if you cannot get a picture of me holding the package with a big smiley face inside my own house, you have NOT delivered my package! What's so hard to understand about this? It seems most, if not all, couriers are like this in my experience.
I've bought a number of single items valued in vee £2k, and despite the retailer being the most reputable in the market, their couriers let them down. Every single time. Rarely do I ever get something actually delivered.Debt @ LBM 01/11/24 - £14,161.59Debt current - £10,845.80
"When it's good, it's fun. When it's bad, it's funny". Trying to take things one step at a time.0 -

Most couriers have 3 strikes & it back to source. 🤷♀️
It's a case of never pleasing everyone all the time.
Personally if you want it in your hand, then go to shop & buy in store & keep local shops going 👍Life in the slow lane0 -
Drivers are allocaterd 5 minuters for each delivery. They do not have time to hang about intil someone may or may not answer the door.
People want quick delveries. That comes at a cost.0 -

Lots of the stuff you can get from Amazon you can't get anywhere else - believe me, I only buy from there when there is no other option0 -

I appreciate this service isn't always available, especially for bigger or heavier items, but for most things I have the choice of several collection points in the small coastal town where I live, within a mile or so of my house, many open until at least 10pm seven days a week.
The goods are delivered literally into my hand and the stores I use are happy for me to open the packaging there and then and to recycle the bundles of cardboard that Amazon always send.
I rarely need to return anything to Amazon but I recently collected something from my local Co-op about 8pm, found when I opened the pack that it was not what I expected, returned it there and then and had my refund credited from Amazon before leaving the shop.0 -
