Vintage Cash Cow -Advice needed

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Some time ago I sent two boxes of items to VCC, and they eventually came back with a poor offer, which I declined. (I wasn't expecting market value, I was using them for ease but the offer was derisory so I decided I would prefer to donate the items. ) I requested a return. I received some but not all of my items back. Costume jewellery, and some gold/silver items which had been sent carefully wrapped, some in original boxes, were returned in a tangled mess, without boxes, and wrapped in plastic and tape.

I had sent two Hohner melodeons that had belonged to my grandfather; one was returned, but the other has not been. Neither had a brooch that they mentioned specifically in their offer to me. They also referred, in their phone call to some vintage kitchenalia (their phrase), the Victorian fire tools, and I myself made reference to an antique box and to both the melodeons I had sent.  All the above is missing, and they are not replying to my emails.

I foolishly did not document what was sent, however I'm hoping that they record their phone calls so that I can refer back to the items discussed. (I am so cross with myself for neglecting to record what I sent. )

Does anyone have a contact address for someone other than the general office staff, as it seems my emails are going unnoticed, and phone calls are not answered?

Slight update: Just received an automated email from Parcel Force saying that VCC are sending a package to me. It will be interesting to see what is in it, seeing as VCC have not replied to my emails on the matter. I will update further.

And as a word of advice, if you think something is worth selling, use someone you can physically take it to, not some faceless organisation online. Learn from my hard lesson.

They did that to me too - sent everything back just chucked on a heap after I rejected their silly offer. Nothing valuable missing though in my case. I afterwards sold one of the items for more than their offer for the whole box
  • Used VCC for first time and had mistakenly put in "vintage" items carefully wrapped ( individually) sadly items returned thrown into box without wrapping and smashed to bits. VcC bkamed parcelforce but this wasnt simply because the items were left unwrapped inside so obviously goibg to be smashed So, dont send anything of value that is breakable. It doesnt say that on their website, just states "vintage items". Seemingly packers throw items in box of value because they know it wont be insured! Derisory offer  received too...hence request for return. Even worse was offer I sent in had addition £20 included in offer... they had ignored that...

This happened to me also. I sent several hundred pounds worth of stuff and was offered £3.31. There was a vintage clock, 5kg of mixed coins, jewellery and designer glasses. I declined their offer and they returned my stuff with my clock broken, and my coins all over the place and not neatly stored as I sent them.I left a review on Trust pilot about them being crooks. I asked for proof of their security system and valuer's checking the stock. They told me it was broken on that day. Someone needs to look into this company of cowboys and cheats. They're scamming people wrongly in my personal opinion.

Hi, I have had a really poor experience with vintage cash cow and it leaves me very concerned for anybody especially vulnerable older people who may use this company. There offers are really low actually laughable if it wasn’t a serious issue. If you decline you may not get all your items back. This happened to me they then say they will investigate which I do not believe they do as they then say you did not send the item and refuse to discuss further. They seem to have no complaints policy documentation that you can access they class the original discussion of missing items as their process and will not take it any further. They have gaslighting techniques and blatantly lie about your possessions which they loose with no accountability being accepted on their behalf. Please beware this company..I believe most of good reviews to be fake or paid advertising This is my belief. I have experienced a poor customer experience and would definitely not recommend to anybody as I believe they will rip you off . I tried to comment on their instagram and they just deleted the post and blocked me… This is not the behaviour of a reputable company.

I think they are aiming to get vulnerable probably elderly people as their customers. The TV ads seem to be aimed at these people.

It's like everything else, you should always do some research before getting involved with these companies

We have had a good response from this company.

We sent a box full of items and within several days, received a fair offer more than we expected.

The offer was immediately accepted, and the payment received in our bank account the next day.

Just out of interest was there anything particularly valuable in your box or was it all of low-/mid-range value?

Spoony what worries me is people may have no idea of what is valuable.

@Spoonie_Turtle We don't believe there was anything particularly valuable - a couple of old cameras, a pair of binoculars, and various brass pieces.

We probably could have received more if we had taken the items to local sales, but weren't interested.

We have been clearing out a relative's house, who has sadly passed away, and there is so much there we didn't want the hassle.

Vintage Cash Cow's service was easy to use, and we were surprised by their offer.

The reason I asked is most of the problems reported are from people who knew there was something valuable, didn't accept VCC's lowball offer, and had the box returned in disarray minus the valuable item(s).  So I wondered what the situation was for the previous poster who was satisfied with their experience.
