Happy Boxing Day to all who keep/have a box!!! (not wanting to be outdone by f0xh0les!
)
I hope all you turtles have had a Christmas that has been what you want. I think we're all cheering on grandmanerd with getting her bedroom how she wants it.There are 5 days until the start of 2025. If you are thinking about your personal 1000 days, it's a good time for braindumping all your thoughts. You could do lots of lists. But most of all, think 'Health, Wealth and a Life Well-Lived'NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!6 -
@apple_muncher. Thank you for reminding us about the 1000 days.Health wealth and a life well lived really resonate a lot with me.I have had a backdated demand from my local council for a hefty contribution to my direct payments which were until now fully funded by the council. There is an amount of £1200 due from April 24 to now. Then also they want me to pay approximately £144 monthly from January 25.I am a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Mortgage Free Wannabe & Local Money Saving Scotland & Disability Money Matters. Wow @beanielou, that's a hefty chunk! Good luck with sorting that out
Thanks for the 1000 day reminder @apple_muncher. Now I've got all my sewing jobs out the way, & my day of cooking, & deposited mum back home, I can start thinking about things more.
NSD#15
Got out my new calendar this evening & write upcoming appointments, etc on it. Will save my diaries for another day 😀
Finally iced my Christmas cake this morning. Have washed up twice & put some presents away. Played our new game again after tea, lots of laughter, especially from DS1&3. DS1's GF birthday tomorrow, but her present from us hasn't arrived yet! She's staying over tonight & likely tomorrow too, so will have to think of a way to make her day special.
Grateful for laughter, mum having a good time, contact from a friend from @1990, who is on the island & asked to meet up tomorrow for a catch upUse it up, wear it out

@beanielou I hope you manage to get your payments sorted out!Still on NSD #11 as we went out this morning to buy a few bits including a wireless charger for OH's phone as the charging socket has broken. I didn't know what best to buy (there are loads of different ones, some of which require additional bits which aren's included). So I bought a branded one in B&M, then looked in Home B*rgains and saw another whose packaging said it didn't need any additional parts, so bought that as well. The first one cost £12. The second was marked £6.99 on the shelf, but rang up at £2.99. I queried this as I didn't want the checkout lady to get into trouble if there was a mistake. However, the scanned price was correct and they hadn't updated the shelf. Got them home and tried the £2.99 one and it seems to work fine. Even having bought two, it was much cheaper than a new phone! I have put the other one away in case the cheap one breaks - and it is always useful to have another charger.. I could take it back but it isn't somewhere we normally shop and it doesn't seem worth a special trip. Also bought some new gloves and face cloths and a jar of the nice gravy granules that we like. And OH bought a pair of safety goggles for when he is using his lathe and a storage jar to keep his loose tea in. Not glamorous purchases but all useful. After lunch I decided to tackle filling the damaged plaster in the main bathroom from when the small bathroom directly above it sprang leaks which ran down the wall and damaged the surface, causing cracks. It has now had plenty of time to completely dry out. I did think initially that it might be necessary to get it replastered, but decided to have a go at filling the cracks myself, and painting over it. I have done the filling part, and it definitely looks better. I will sand it down tomorrow when it has dried and see if more filling is needed in the deeper cracks. If not I might try painting it. I am not entirely sure what paint was used when it was originally done, but hope that the kitchen and bathroom emulsion that I already have will cover it ok.Just picked some beetroot from the garden to cook and have with our salad for dinner.Grateful today for cheap fixes and home grown beetroot!6

Happy non-special day to everyone. I have managed to get 3 more nsds as Christmas Day, Boxing Day and today have all been nsds. This takes me to 13 nsds for this month.Health, wealth and happiness are my main focus from now on. I need to check in with myself for all decisions as to whether any big decisions fit in with my long term goals. I can rack up nsds easily but need to work towards saving more money. I want to spend my money on things that bring me happiness like travel and time spent with children/family.I suppose I need to organise some house stuff to be done too. OH wants to make our everyday life better by doing stuff in the house. Not sure what this entails.Mortgage free wannabee 2022 #827

Mrs Builder came today at 2pm. She has transformed the front room. There is still work to do (we haven't moved the couches and one at least has lots of stuff underneath) and things aren't where I want them to be (she started in one corner and moved things across as each bit of floor was cleared) but at least half the floor is clear (the rest has items of furniture on it).
She's coming tomorrow morning around 9.30 am and we will attack the kitchen. I've already moved some of DS3 and Beloved's stuff onto the stairs. She thinks it will still be there tomorrow, I said it's more convenient for DS3 to take them upstairs out of the way rather than walk round them using only half the stairs. I think they will begin to wonder where they are going to put things but they should have listened when I was telling them to round up empty boxes etc. I also started to fill cube shelf boxes with my own kitchen things so there won't be a mad panic as K-day approaches.
I put the washing out on the line this morning. The weather doesn't look hopeful but I had another part load ready to go in the machine and Mrs Builder found a few more items as she worked round the room. I didn't sit there watching her work but worked at my own pace, ferrying bin bags out to the bins as they were filled and sorting through any piles of stuff that were near to me.
I'm still sleeping on the couch for tonight, but there is room to put the sofa bed together, provided I can move in the morning (I slowed down as the afternoon wore on, my knees and ankles complaining bitterly). On the plus side, we've found the ibuprofen tablets and gel. I have several medicinal items arriving tomorrow and a small 'grocery' order which I've put back to Sunday - by the time I'd got things jotted down there was only the 10 pm - midnight delivery slot available this evening and I thought it might be inconvenient to have a delivery in the middle of clearing the kitchen (although there are only a few grocery items and any drinks will stay in the vestibule).
I cooked the tandoori lumps today (after cooking lunch). I'm cooking things that need to go in the oven and then will portion and freeze them (filling space as I use up other items). I can take them out as needed and reheat in the microwave and when I turn the freezer off, I'll still have several days of usable meals before I have to get creative (I've put bottled water on the order because no doubt there will be quite a few days without water downstairs).
Grateful to Mrs Builder, for the work I managed to do (having to give my legs a pep talk each time I needed to stand up) for my new puzzle book arriving today.7 -
Oh beanie, that's rotten. Is it justified? It must have knocked you for six.Today I am grateful for getting up and out in the fog (love it!), for fun at the gym, for finishing a good book, for the festive pottery throw down.Is anyone up for setting up Jan? I'm very happy to do it, but don't want to hog the limelight 🤣🤣🤣NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!7

Great that work has now started @grandmanerd. I bet you're buzzing with excitement & the new possibilities. Hope you're not too sore tomorrow.
A shock to the system this morning, I woke & got up earlier than I have been this week. Hung the washing out, no wind but it stayed dry all day, then walked 4.5 miles with DH.
Went to town & met my friend, had s good catch up over cake. Think it must be at least 5 years since we last saw each other, & a lot has happened since then!
Pottered about, washed the dishes after tea & started knitting a gonk. My SIL has asked me to make her one (which I'd forgotten about & only just remembered!), but I decided I'll knit one for my future craft stall first, because I want to & not because she WANTS one. Doing what I want first (No-vember continues 😉). I'm starting to think about what changes I want to make next year & self care needs to be more of a priority!
Grateful for a nice walk, meeting an old friend, time to relax & craft by the fire whilst watching DowntonUse it up, wear it out

Today I am grateful for a liddle trip that was nice and quiet, for online videos, for the combination of a good book and good coffee, for my fabric stash!
