It’s so easy to go mad in the swedish shop. Everything seems like a most excellent organisation idea. 👍 on the sensory toy2

How stressful about the drive, hope you get it resolved to your satisfaction2

Hope you can resolve the driveway issues quickly and amicably.

Well after several attempts to weasel out of it my drive got resurfaced yesterday while I was at work. They left lots of rubbish behind and didn't put stuff back where it came from so a disappointing end to the job.
However my raised beds are lovely. The planting was ace. Digging out of bamboo was great. The tarmac is above the pavers at the front but should be stronger and looks much better now.
It makes my home and garden look smarter and much bigger and should be more manageable longer term. I gave them final payment today as I just wanted it 'over'. I got the lad to put an outdoor sofa and box back. I bought heavy duty wheeled pot movers recently so I have been able to wiggle 3 pots onto those and get them in position. I put Xmas lights on one.

Yesterday I went to work at lunchtime after starting to empty the lounge and understairs cupboard in the morning. It was a successful meeting even if exhausting. I was shaky by the time I got home around 7. DD and her BF came over and spent about 3 hours each emptying the rest of the space.
Today was asbestos removal so I went out and did a tiny bit of Xmas shopping. I met a friend for lunch and we exchanged gifts. I came back and started to create order in the back garden while the asbestos guys finished my lounge and hall.
They think my front room has previously been very damp. Unfortunately they taped my walls and that pulled paint off. Also taking off the skirting has pulled plaster off. Apparently its unusually thin. I could do with at least repainting before the floor is fitted Monday. I still need a joiner and potentially a plasterer.
They also said there were issues with my electrical sockets. That is now moving higher up the list to resolve.
It's been raining here so been unable to get full effect of the works. Bad wind now. The shed won't shut and my gate is sticking. It will get sorted eventuallyAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I think with big jobs like the drive etc and especially when the rhythm of them gets interrupted by bad weather, which the snow did for you, it gets quite hard to sustain the initial pace and focus right to the end of the job, and you end up with what you describe, which is what I call a scrappy finish. Not ideal, but I’ve seen it before. I suspect they will be disappointed with themselves and self justifying … Glad it’s finished though and overall it’s given you the result you wanted - it sounds a lot safer. Next spring you get to play more with the raised beds too 😊
Sounds like the skirting was put on when the plaster was still wet. It’s always the way that one job creates three! Once it is all sorted though, it will transform your downstairs 😊

Having said that I spent ages picking rubbish out of our recycling bin when the kitchen fitters left as they clearly didn't check which bin they were tidying stuff into...3 -
Thanks KK and Ccw007
It will be worth it in the end. It's lovely no longer worrying about steps and potholes. I'll leave the car off the drive a few more days especially as the weather is atrocious and give the tarmac more time to bed in. I'll try to stay in today...
The raised beds are utterly fabulous and their help with transplanting was immense. Will be so much easier to plant bulbs etc.
Glad the asbestos removal is sorted. I need to paint but taken it easy so far today.
DD is going to rewire some sockets for me. I just need to buy them.
I got chicken and chips delivered yesterday partly using a voucher and have some left for today and perhaps tomorrow. I also have some taco mince I can have with jacket spud. At least I still have power.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Waves @Sunshine_girl2 just realised I missed your post. Thanks for dropping by. Think will have lunch and then look at painting. Think rollers may be in the shed though. If they are may wait until tomorrow.
I need to do some washing. See what Xmas decs I can put up. See what I need to let go and continue organising.
