You could get one of the small screwdriver ones to practice and help your confidence first?2
-
Thanks WD - i already have a small ele. Screwdriver.
I spoke to my neighbour earlier - he's going to look for any joiner or electrician suggestions. The previous candidates didn't work out. We also discussed the wall at the front - I've had a couple of quotes and they were £3-3.5K which is out of the question for both of us currently. They'd like me to keep the wall or similar as they have a dog they are trying to keep in. We've said we'll revisit in the new year once we've both had chance to save some more etc. I said I quite liked the metal ones - and he said he did too so maybe we can find something we can both agree on and they'll perhaps go halves.
I've cancelled my counsellor for this week as money has just been evaporating. My week was also a bit too busy as the day I was due to have my appointment I now have to physically go into work. I returned a few things.
I was feeling really weak and dizzy yesterday and realised a) I hadn't eaten properly and b) I'd missed some of the folate tablets over the weekend etc. So restarted them. I managed to cook something I can use for a few days.
I get paid a week on Friday and am due back pay so that will help with recent spends.
I've started the process of emptying understands cupboard and started putting up Xmas decs. I also replaced the batteries in some bottle lights.

On the drill, SH - I was gifted a drill in my first (rented) flat alone and I loved it, felt all Independent Woman whenever I used it and it was great to be able to do small jobs myself. Where I live now has such solid walls that a masonry drill is needed for half the stuff I'd use it for, plus my muscles are very weak now and I'm not up to stuff I used to be able to do myself, so either a neighbour or my handyman tends to do stuff for me. Drills do need to be used fairly regularly though or the battery goes flat - you've probably already thought of this, but might be worth checking to see if you have a local tool library or borrowing a drill from a neighbour to see how you get on with it?Debt at LBM (Dec 2018): £23,167

We used to need a hammer drill to hang a picture in the flat, pretty much, thanks to the concrete construction. Quite the PITA, although the discovery that those plastic hooks with the pins that you just hold flat against the wall then hammer until the pins are all pushed through and gripping worked brilliantly and were a game changer!
I'm pretty confident with drills, saws etc, thanks to my Dad - the most important skill to have if planning on drilling, to my mind, is to ensure you know how to check for pipes and cables and that you have the relevant device to do so!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Thanks Sandy, AK and EH.
No current acct with them.
A highways tarmac contractor came on street today and they looked at my drive and basically said it needed to be redone due not only to the join but due to uneven compaction. He said oarts had sunk already which wasnt a good sign. He said it should have been done in two layers not one. He said their whacker was inadequate and they should have had spares and a better roller.
He said they could see where there were footprints at the back and where there had been holes they chucked tarmac in but didn't properly compact after. Said can even feel footprints. He said they hadn't compacted my new step at the back properly either. As you can imagine I am panicking...
I spoke to the contractor and he's said they'll redo the front tomorrow and come and talk to me at lunchtimetoday. Hes late. I have to go in the office at least part of tomorrow though. My video doorbell will capture some stuff.

Definitely would value a hug. Got one from BIL. Went to see sis after shop below.
Went to the Swedish shop today. So I could get a £24 rail to put cabinet up.... Spent another £135 on top... I was there 4 hours and abandoned some stuff at the till.... and yet despite that....
I bought some peg boards and accessories in the hope that it helps with organisation (visual organiser) but really didn't anticipate it coming to that much. A bright yellow large 🐙 toy also made it into the trolley to help with sensory stuff. I'm trying to be kinder to myself and try and work out as WD suggested what might help me. I also got a 2 drawer insert for a kallax unit.
I will return some items I bought the other day.... Needless to say my new labels aren't yet working. However some good news today. I'm due an £80 giftcard from work. So that will help offset some of the spend.
