Thanks Jwil, KK and DF1D Well new year, new me. I've just paid £120 to host a web domain for the next 4 years!! I want to post about art and FI and plan to launch a utube channel. Compared to the last time I tried and failed to achieve this - AI has made things a lot easier (and cheaper). Now I have to actually build the site and create some content but the template for the first bit seems pretty cool. I will also need to buy some kit for doing videos - but intend to start small. However - it has been a long term aspiration - and given the best time to start something was always in the past - and the second best is now - I am going for it!! Hopefully that will then also give me the kick up the butt to create the art cards and other things I've talked about doing but not quite delivered on. I'll do it as a sole trader initially - as any income is likely to be slow - and the costs around being a limited company are much higher and I found the bureaucracy quite onerous.
    This sounds brilliant!
Loving hearing about your steps forward

also LOVE the pic with the snow footsteps - you have a great eye
    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Well done on work boundaries.  Also on making a start with the videos.

Thanks LWAP, Jwil, WD, TG, DF1D And Blackcats.

I love quirky things like the footprints.

Been working from home today. My post got delivered next door but he brought it round for me which was sweet. He also managed to push a gutter back in it's socket for me so my downpipe is slotted back in with the roof gutter again which is a big relief. I noticed it was loose and given that was something fitted in 2024 I was gutted but so relieved now.

Still have snow here. The pharmacy texted to say meds ready but will aim to go tomorrow lunchtime in the light.

I have organised a boiler service next week with someone a neighbour recommended.  Hopefully will be OK. Similar price to what I have paid before. It's in the budget and follows pay day so that helps.

I have a joiner coming to price up Saturday and an electrician next week. I'll see what their quotes are like before getting more. These are personal recs from locals... while I'd prefer to keep my £ in savings - these jobs are nagging at me. If they were done and I no longer had a trailing extension cable etc it would be a weight off my mind. I have decided the brain space is valuable. Some of it is also safety related.

Once I know my costs for the earlier stuff and assuming they are reasonable I then want to replace the garage door with an electric one. I can't lock the current one and it is stressful as it often seems to come off its track. I don't have enough net savings to convert the garage so this is the next best thing. I may also get some counter fitted in the garage and utility.

I've been listening to a book about reclaiming your time by paying for help more - so hope to then use my headspace and freed up time to develop my new business ideas while also sustaining my job etc. I will investigate a cleaner but will probably get the planned work done first.
