We want to get a 2 or 3 level corner shower caddy in chrome or stainless steel finish.

In the past we have found that even an expensive stainless steel or chrome rust free caddy will eventually rust.

Can anyone recommend a make that will genuinely last for years without rusting?

We want a caddy that is screwed to the wall rather than held by suction grips.

We would go up to about £200 for the right product but would prefer to spend rather less.

A few years ago we bought an inexpensive aluminium caddy for about £12 on eBay. It has lasted well. The aluminium still looks newish although the cheap screws supplied have rusted.

It looked ok in our then rather tired looking twenty year old shower recess.

We have now had that recess completely refurbished with waterproof wall panels, Hansgrohe chrome shower bar and riser and a chrome Merlyn door. It looks lovely so we want a caddy that will look equally good

Thanks

I think you need one that has internals of brass with the chrome finish on top.
After multiple DIY store rust-failures we bought a Laura Ashley brass-based shower caddy which has lasted perfectly with no rust for at least 10 years. The chrome still looks perfect when cleaned.
Sadly it's no longer available, but it may be worth you searching for a brass-based caddy.

I was going to say the same.

I used to buy these for clients.

Likewise, we have a chrome-plated brass shower caddy after having rust issues with chromed and stainless steel after a few years' use. We have a Hudson Reed one. Ours isn't a corner-mounted design but they do do the kind you're looking for - e.g. Hudson Reed Large Shower Basket | LL308 | Various | Chrome (heatandplumb.com)

We have Robert Welch corner caddies, they come as singles or doubles and the basket bit comes out for cleaning.

Solid stainless steel, not plated. They never seem to get discounted, but you might get lucky on Black Friday.

  • I had this shelf installed when I tiled my shower - my daughter's is screwed in rather than tiled.

Thanks everyone for your comments and suggestions. Keep them coming.

Slinky, thanks but we couldn't see a Keuco that we liked.

Doozergirl. We are not sure about the glass shelf but it is a possibility.

ebc. Yes, brass based looks to be the best choice. Laura Ashley sadly went bust a few years ago but there are plenty of brass based alternatives.

Casper, That Hudson Reed is a definite possibility.

Emmia. That Robert Welch double is very nice but rather pricey at £185. However we have spent the thick end of £4,000 on the shower recess so we might got for it anyway.

    Thanks again all.

Edit. Working Mum, I missed your post as I was typing as you posted. Thanks but we want a multi level caddy in chrome or stainless steel finish to match the shower bar and door etc.

We went for singles when we refurbished our bathrooms, the one redone completely has one, the other one (which had a new sink / vanity unit and wall cupboard) had two rubbish glass shelves replaced with a pair of these baskets (individual ones, rather than the double)

I've no regrets getting them... I think they were 10% or 20% off on Black Friday in John Lewis last year.

Thanks Casper, we have ordered that one today.
