This weekend has been a little bit spendy as I went out for dinner last night & then out for breakfast this morning, but I decided to pay for it out of the NatWest switch bonus instead of getting a new coat. Making memories is more important to me and it cheered me up 🙂 I’ve still not received the bonus but hopefully it will land soon.

Did a little food shop today - I didn’t need much because I bought so much last weekend so just needed a basket which is handy when it’s so busy!

My girls are with their dad this weekend but I saw them earlier round my mum & dad’s house decorating their Christmas tree. I’ll be seeing DD2 again tomorrow evening as she’s doing another Christmas carol concert. This will be the last one… she’s done 4 in total!
  • So sorry to hear about your friend.

Well done on your £600 debt Dec challenge and your bank switching money - great to see your focus.
    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

  • Thank you. It’s been confirmed it’s definitely cancer but it hasn’t spread thank goodness 🙏🏼

Today I worked from home as I had to pop to the local job centre to confirm my new bank details for UC. I was back home within 20 minutes so it was very quick. After work I went to watch DD2 do her choir performance. It was really good actually… probably the best one yet ☺️

Didn’t spend any money today, just to make up for my spendy weekend 😆
  • I’m going out shortly with a few friends to our local pub so thought I’d hop on quickly!

I went to the office today and it was incredibly busy. I only had one meeting which was a bonus! And it was a relatively fun meeting. They also provided lunch ☺️ Went to Tesco after work to get a few bits and there was some drama going on with the homeless man who sits outside bless him. I couldn’t work out what was happening but I hope he’s ok.

I’ve ordered some winter wear from Very for DD1. It came to £38.49, so my ex will transfer half for it at the end of the month and then I’ll pay the rest.

Right I need to get ready for the pub now so I’ll be back tomorrow!
  • The pub was good last night 😊 I spent £3.90 on a Baileys hot chocolate. I received my first Christmas card too ☺️

Today was very busy at work but I managed a 4km walk at lunchtime with a colleague. DD2’s school were doing a Christmas fayre so I left the office a bit earlier than normal to take the girls there. It was rubbish to be honest, their summer fayre was much better, but they still walked away with a load of sweets so they were happy!

My bank switch has finally happened and I have my new debit card and pin 🙂 I’ve discovered I won’t get the bonus until after pay day though as one of the conditions is to have a certain amount hit the account in the next 60 days. So things might be a bit tight for the rest of the month 😬 Especially if I’m still set on paying another £303.13 off my debts to hit my target.

I’m going to do a bit more work now and then I’m going to chill for the rest of the evening as I’m so tired 😴
  • Hello! Hope everyone is ok? I’m just trying to work out the budget for this weekend. It’s going to be spendy but I’m trying to not beat myself up about it as I’m still paying off debt and some things are more important, like doing a 260 mile round trip to see my poorly friend. Will get her some flowers on the way 🙂

Today was Christmas jumper day so it was nice seeing all my colleagues looking very festive! Picked up the Very order on the way home and DD1 is happy 😊 One hoodie is a bit small for her though so I’ll see if DD2 wants it.

My washing machine is playing it’s little jingle now which means I need to go and hang the washing out in the airer, fun times 😂

Oh I should mention today was a NSD 😇 The calm before the storm 😂
  • Have a safe journey to see your friend, at least the weather should be OK 🌤️
  • Thanks @LilSmiler 😊 It has been a nice day with my friend. She’s in good spirits. I think she’s just thankful it hasn’t spread. She had another scan yesterday and she’ll probably have a date for the surgery late next week. She bought me lunch which was naughty of her but she insisted, bless her. I went out on a first date last night so she wanted all the details on that 😂 I think the conversation was a nice distraction from the horrible tumour, which we’ve decided to call Regina George 🤭🤭

The first date was lovely by the way. He was a true gent, and wouldn’t let me pay towards the meal 🙂

My universal credit is being paid in a few days but I’ve just seen the amount being paid and the balances of the 2 loans I have with them. I’ve updated my debt tracker and the repayments have taken me into the £7Ks 🥳 Total amount paid in December is now at £342.41/£600.00

Tomorrow is my favourite day of the year! It’s Christmas panto day!! 😍😍 I absolutely love taking my kids to see the Christmas panto, it’s always such a lovely, fun day out with them. The celebrity cast member is someone the girls love and our seats are close to the stage so they’re very excited ☺️ Their dad will drop them off at mine tomorrow morning and then we will go straight to the nearby shopping centre, meet my parents there, have lunch, and then go to the theatre. Can’t wait! The tickets were bought a year ago so it’s been a long wait lol.

Off to get changed into my comfies now, I’m very tired! 😴
  • Well Christmas panto day did not disappoint and we all had an amazing day 😊 We were 2nd row from the front and right in the middle so we had an amazing view!

We met my parents for lunch before we went to the theatre (they kindly paid) and then we all went to see the show. Except my dad - he hates pantos 🤣🤣

I bought DD1 a new toothbrush in the nearby shopping centre before lunch and DD2 wanted a new body spray. Also bought 3 ice-creams and a bottle of water at the theatre which was a rip off and paid for parking. It could’ve been worse 😂

I was going to do some work tonight but I’m SO tired. I think the last few days are catching up with me! I’ve been a busy bee. 5 days to go and then I have a week off, yay! 😍
  • Hello! My Monday started off with me reading a very nice e-mail from my manager thanking me for all my hard work, and saying I can have an extra day annual leave next year 😊 What I don’t think he’s realised is this extra day off will mean I have over 30 days to take next year, plus all the bank holidays 😂 It’ll be handy to have the extra day though as I’ve already booked 2 weeks off in July to take the girls on holiday.

I worked from home today so caught up on my washing and have currently got the girls’ bedding in the machine as they’re at their dad’s house for a couple of nights, so it gives me a chance to wash their sheets 😊 My mum picked DD1 up from school and took her into town to do some shopping and then out for dinner which she loved. She text me a picture of her halloumi fries, making me jealous 😆 DD2 will be doing the same later in the week, however she woke up with a sore throat this morning so I’m worried she’s going to be ill. It wouldn’t surprise me, she’s always ill around now!

I used the last few £££ of my petrol budget today so let’s see how far I can stretch it 😆 I doubt I’ll make it to pay day with just half a tank but I like a challenge 😂 Also did a food shop so my fridge and cupboards aren’t looking so bare any more.

I've enrolled onto a free course about autism as I’m in a neurodiversity forum at work to help improve conditions for those who are ND, so I’m looking forward to starting that 🙂 I should get my login details soon.

4 more days to go! I can’t wait to have a week off 😌
