The money from the flat is now in my account. I’ve never had that much money in there before! I spoke to a solicitor yesterday about getting a declaration of trust done but she said it would be very difficult to do as the money from my flat is paying off debt and not going towards the mortgage. She said what makes it even more complex is part of the debt is a home improvement loan, meaning it’s increased the value of the house. She’s going to check with her colleague and then come back to me. It all goes over my head to be honest!
I received an e-mail earlier from my old managing agents saying they will no longer be managing the property from the end of this month. It looks like we completed just in time because I can imagine that bombshell would’ve caused a few delays! I hope the new buyer is loving it there. It’s still not sunk in that it’s not my flat any more. I wonder if the other residents all put their bins out this morning - they never used to 🤣
I received £70 from the work health scheme for my new glasses which is only about 15% of what I spent, but never mind! I picked them up the other day and they’re so much clearer than my old pair so they’re worth it. It’s nice to have prescription sunglasses again too! Hopefully these will last as long as my old glasses did 🙂
OH decided to accept the £75 compensation and it’s in the joint account already. I finally have access to the joint account on the app so I can see everything! Including all the 30p transactions linked to OH’s coffee machine at work 😂 All of my direct debits have been moved over now so I soon won’t need my current account, just the joint one. I must remember to transfer DD2’s money to her new current account as her debit card arrived yesterday. I just know she’s going to lose it 😂 She loses everything bless her.
Me & OH have 2 weeks off in the summer holidays so to save money we’ve decided not to book a holiday abroad, as it’s very expensive for anything half decent for 5 of us. It’s a shame as I LOVE my holidays but we just can’t justify it right now. Instead we are going on a caravan holiday in England on the coast for a few nights 😁 I just hope the weather will be nice! If it’s not we’ll just have to stay in the arcades 🤣
I need to pick up the girls now and it’s typically started raining 🙃 OH will be in bed until about 9pm so I’ll do our dinner and then either go out for a walk (if it stops raining) or go to the gym, depending on what the girls fancy doing. I also need to check in on my friend next door as she’s just split up with her fella. I went round there last night as she did my pedi and waxed my brows and was telling me all about it. Bless her. She’d been to see my mum earlier in the day to do her pedi and my mum gave her a bottle of Prosecco and told her to drink it with me 😂😂

I can only urge you with everything in me and everything I have experienced in life to not lose your flat money and not have any security. If you need to put it into savings until you can be on the mortgage so be it. Protect your financial security at all costs, even if it feels awkward. X

Good advice from @ArtyJ931
Also you might want to keep your current account open if you would ever consider using it as a 'sacrificial' account when taking up one of the offers that Martin posts for account switching. Can earn quite a bit and you don't have to keep the new account going after you get the freebie. Ignore me if thats not your thing, I've done it a couple of times and its been easy.

Thank you both. Don’t worry, I’m being careful! OH is going to be putting me on the mortgage soon and will be transferring half of the equity to me. He knows that until that’s done I won’t be spending a penny of the flat money, as if something bad was to happen then I need that money for a deposit for another house. He’s currently working his last shift for a couple of days so he’ll have time to call them mortgage lender.
Good point about the current account, though from experience they need 2 direct debits and I don’t have any now, so not sure I’d qualify for any switch bonuses?
This is day 3 of me waking up between 4am and 4:30am and it’s making me so tired 😴 I don’t know why it keeps happening! Maybe because of the workload at work… it is a lot at the moment. I just can’t seem to catch up from my week off. My boss joked yesterday and said it’s a sign that I shouldn’t take a week off in future 😂
My alarm has just gone off so I need to shower & get ready for work. DD1 will walk to school but DD2 will need dropping off. She’s starting her SATS in 3.5 weeks and it’s all a bit heavy at the moment but not long now and then it’ll be over 🙂 She’s got a residential to look forward to afterwards as well as the school prom. She’s already been looking at dresses ☺️

Is your bedroom dark enough @Pink_Butterfly? Its starting to get light so early now could that be waking you up? Also you've had a lot of stress lately especially with the flat shenanigans so maybe you are decompressing from that……
Re account switching, you're right that many require DDs but not all. I switched to TeeSBee last year with no DDs on the account I switched from. I just had to use my debit card a certain number of times in a set period which wasn't excessive and I managed it with my normal use.
