My several downstairs loo spiders do nothing either. They don't look like yours. Been watching them do nothing for several months now. They sit with ones that are dead.
I did do the google search a while ago and and am none the wiser. They apparently use no energy when not moving. Mine do a fast spinning motion when i touch them. Am going to try that garlic on an itch.1 -

Incidentally, what we often take to be dead spiders are simply old exoskeletons that they shed as they grow. Your spider is just leaving its old clothes lying about, @jvjack, though that doesn't create as creepy a vibe as 'They sit with ones that are dead'. My furball caught a spider that had been brought in with some logs. Just chewed it up a bit and then left the soggy carcass on the carpet. A while back, did grab a fly in mid flight - The speed & skill was very surprising.Brie said: And no matter what @Silvertabby might think not all cats are great hunters. This is so interesting- I always wondered how some survive when they seem to be trying to catch flies in the most unsuitable places. Ive got a couple of long leggedy ones hiding close to the floor atm, but I think theyre spider eaters.0
