    What does your solicitor claim they can achieve? 
    I think we all assumed that dad had been living in rented,  and that his only assets had been his State pension....long since spent on funeral expenses and/or house clearance.  But if a solicitor has agreed to take the case, then there must be property involved.  
    I don't know. OP didn't mention property or try to correct our assumption of no property. If there was property it would not be too difficult to find out if it has been sold. Doubt if OP will return.
