Hi allRound it all seems really stressful, hope the new car is lovely (Kylie the Kia?! ).
I was very brave yesterday. I have been having trouble with my foot and new orthotics and was offered laser treatment but had to drive an hour to the outskirts of Middlesbrough for it. On my own. I went and didn't collapse and die, but I was a little anxious!
Flying has been dribs and drabs, but DH has been helping so all is not lost. Fire lit now and easy tea tonight.
Lovely to see you COFG I have missed your updates x6 -
ROUND ...Ria the Kia or Rio if you are a Duran Duran fan .....Success is the sum of small efforts repeated day in and day out.Thats what I keep telling myself :-)5

Round… no idea…I await with bated (sp?) breath.
Im happy with Polly Jane, thanks for the feedback, I started off with Violet Jane, my grandma’s married name but then I flipped to Polly, which was what the youngsters, as I then was, called our auntie, the older generation called her Molly and her given name was actually Mary Ann…
I seem to have spent most of the day knitting. I have ironed everything though, now airing.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Lost track of what I've done and think I forgot to post yesterday so this is pretty random
- step class yesterday
- put breadmaker on as a bag of bread mix was a couple of weeks out of date. Bit heavy and sticky but ok; bag said 'rapid or normal' ......I chose rapid and maybe that wasn't so good.
- lake swim today. Starting to feel a bit chillier at 8.3 so into shortie wetsuit, thin gloves and thin swim socks.
- done all I can of the attendance allowance form
- finished and sewn up 2 pairs of fingerless gloves; one pair of which I'd knitted at the end of last winter and they'd got put in a bag and forgotten about, the other pair I've done this week. Will take them to church tomorrow to give to the Waterways Chaplain as they are useful for boaters. Talking of knitting, how is Pigpen?
- Filled bird feeders
- took all notices/cards/letters off our kitchen pinboard and threw most of them into recycle bin. Then sorted out the 3 'baskets' (like a 3 layer in tray set but on the wall and made of wicker) in which we keep recent bills, medical details etc. Lots more into recycling or in confidential waste box. Mr N has now painted the bit of wall where the pinboard and baskets hang. He's finished all the ceiling and has only one small bit of wall left.
- Meanwhile I've taken everything off the 2 hooks on the kitchen/garage door i.e. 5 or 6 various types of oven gloves, 4 or 5 aprons, 2 tea cosies and the bag in which we put scrunchy plastic. 1 cosy and 1 glove straight into bin. Aprons put into wash and will just hang one at a time back on the door - I don't use them that often anyway, so at least they can be clean in a drawer. Will think about remaining oven gloves; think I mainly had too many really thick or long ones when we had the range. Either way, there will not be so much hanging on the door ever again. Washed down the door, door frame and skirting board. We can start painting the skirting board tomorrow. I won't say the end of our kitchen renovation is completely in sight, but we have made a lot of progress and are getting better at being ruthless and organised.
- went into Dun£lm on the way back from the lake (via L1dl) and after a lot of thought, texts and phoning Mr N, bought 3 new induction hob-friendly saucepans and a wok. It's so hard trying to have environmental and ethical principles. Good environmental pans were Italian but very expensive (however few transport miles). Recycled Stainless steel ones were good, no non-stick surface so good environmentally, were half the price of Italian ones but were made in India so bad for air miles. Lots were Chinese which is a big thumbs down for me. It took me forever. However, we used the wok (recycled aluminium, good design, no 'bad' chemicals in non-stick coating but Chinese) this evening for stir-fry and it worked well.
Made a pizza using ground almonds instead of flour, not too bad. Still having no luck sourcing my usual gf flour and I'm down to my last couple of bags, which is bad news especially before Christmas. My swimming buddy's sister lives in NZ and is coming over for Christmas so is going to be asked if she can get hold of any (it is Australian - yes air miles).
Tomorrow's plan after church is to bring in all plants which need the greenhouse or conservatory in the winter, as winter is forecast for the end of the week.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.5 -
Well done on the kitchen decluttering, Narc0, the painting, MrN, and the environmental and ethical principles, both of you xx
i am now wondering whether I can get lights for my baby Xmas tree that are not made in China.Narc0lepsy said:Lost track of what I've done and think I forgot to post yesterday so this is pretty random

I’m hoping to make some cakes this afternoon, as it’s DS1’s birthday this week. DH has already lifted my big K mixer out of its cupboard and put it on the kitchen table for me. Washing up between vegan/non-vegan might be problematic though - I must remember to do the vegan mix first and will just scrape out the bowl well!
Have a good day, everyone,, and I’ll see you on the new thread xxx4 -
Morning all,
I’ve just read through the week…
nice to see you back, CoG
ouch, Iona, I hope you are on the mend
I think the name is excellent, Valli
hugs, Narco, re the house sale, especially hard if it also happens to be your childhood home
keep breathing, Round. Insurance companies play this game with each other as I found out on my no fault shunt. New car name, well I could guess, but that might be an unfair advantage..😉
Absolutely no flying here all week. DD was expecting to be discharged on Friday but suddenly took a turn for the worse on Friday morning, so she is still in for the foreseeable. Thank you for all your good wishes for her.
Right, I appear to have a spare hour so I am going to tackle the bathroom which is grim.
Love to all x5 -
Morning all xx
Gold star goes to Valli for anticipating that my Name my Car logic might not be logical to anyone else. 🤣 You know me so well. The car is a Kia Venga so, to me, the obvious name is.... Kevin. (Kia Ven). Kudos to whoever suggested Vera. If the car was a girl I might have taken you up on that. But it's a boy - so it's Kevin. 😍
I'm up, made my bed and supped my first brew. Completed Wordle in six (phew), completed Connections with two lives lost, and completed Strands without needing any hints at all.
One step at a time. And breathe. I'm not as antsy as I was yesterday but every now and then my adrenal glands squeeze and I get a spike of adrenaline course through my system. Most disconcerting to be laid in bed and suddenly find yourself in fight or flight mode. Breathe....
My steps don't look like they are going to seamlessly lock together.
Step 1: hire car is collected tomorrow between 7am(!!!) and 2pm
Step 2: PJ will take me to the garage to pay for Kevin
All going swimmingly so far. Touch wood. Unlike the last two cars I've bought from this garage Kevin isn't ready to drive away. Soooo. I will be carless on Tuesday. So I'm going to have to book a day off work - they're going to love me but 🤷♀️ - and ask the garage to deliver Kevin to my house when he's ready. Only just came up with that solution- I've been trying to work out how I could get back to the garage when Kevin is ready. PJ is not available on Tuesdays. Pops? He'd gladly take me if he's available but his driving terrifies me. DB? Again he would if he's available. Bus? Taxi? I hastily discounted walking....it's about three miles. I used to walk it regularly to visit my Gran.... thirty years ago with DS in his pram!!! Then as I was typing this I remembered Nationwide Delivery being on the website. And seeing as it's only 8 months since I bought Vin Diesel off them, and before that Feargal Fiesta, I'm sure they'll oblige. That's a weight off my mind. Thank you.
Brew 2 is required. Then I'll be back with a list.

Enormous but gentle (((hugs))) to your DD and all of you, Fayolle. I hope DD is able to come home soon xxx3

Gold star huh? *pleased*
Hope DD improves, Fayolle.
Well done Narco on the cleaning and principle application (I won’t use Shein or Temu)…
Its going to be a very busy week in VallilandDon't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
