Dilemma, do I make more Christmas cakes to make sure I don't damage the one for the neighbours, getting it out of the tin, or give them the one in our tin, unadorned by nuts and cherries on top, and keep the damaged one for us?

Has one of your cakes broken then or is this a 'just in case' dilemma? I've made a Christmas cake every year since I was in my teens & have never had one get damaged when releasing it from the tin as fruit cakes are usually pretty solid. I've probably tempted fate now & will be turning out a big fruity pile of crumbs this year!

Decision made on damaged cake. We shall keep that one. Entirely my fault for being a) too keen to remove it from the tin before it cooled completely, b) using butter paper round the walls of the tin so that they rumpled when I pushed the bottom up, and c) not putting enough butter on the said papers, so they stuck to the cake more.
I do not need to make another batch (repeats to self, regularly)
The last credit card balance of the month cleared this morning, and I have completed the TT scrapings, down to nice round figures this morning. The only given spends to come this month are the window cleaner, coming today, the milk bill, and the stone for the garden (and gardener), tomorrow for the latter, and his time again next week. Worth every penny!
My sourdough loaf/loaf and rolls is baked. Four candles are drying in their little cups, ready for next Saturday - they might sell as decorative little cup and saucer candles. One bucket of honey now jarred up. Just off out for lunch with some friends who are delivering a painting one painted and we boughtSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £10,020.92 out of £6000 after September

A big, fruity pile of crumbs - hmmm ideal! Crumbs dont count on diets especially if eaten standing up. Love Humdinger xx3

That is quite correct, @Humdinger1. You see, once a cake has broken, the lack of structural integrity causes almost instantaneous calorie leakage, thus rendering it practically a health food.2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever

I can assure you, that all crumbs were meticulously removed from counter top, paper and cover, and scraped into hand and consumed. It was so nice, it may just have influenced my decision to keep that one. We don't care what it looks like! - Just as well!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £10,020.92 out of £6000 after September

Right, this morning I am expecting 3 tons of 20ml stone to be delivered at any minute, so I might post and run.
In the meantime, I have retrieved my recipe for honey fudge, and the instructions for candle making, ready to portion up some candles for Saturday's sale. Another box of jars is needed from the loft to permit me to jar up another 15lb bucket of honey, so that I have more than enough for the sale. While retrieving the various boxes I need, I left it by the ladder, so it is just the clothes rail in the way that needs to be moved. So I shall have Honey, honey fudge, candle-making kits, candles to roll and a few cup and saucer candles, lip balms, pots of furniture polish, that sort of thing. I might or might not make hand balm or lip salve, and more furniture polish (again). Oh, and we need to agree our prices, my friend and I. Sorry for the reminders memory dump!
In the meantime I trawled through Morries' offers and now have a click and collect for this evening at 4pm (the only free one left) - in order to pre-order some of the long dated things (ready made desserts and mince pies) I need for the community lunch early in December, and six bottles of wine (with 25% off, an offer that ends today) to cover festive usage.
I am poised for the stone delivery, meanwhile...Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £10,020.92 out of £6000 after September

Good luck with your delivery!
The things for your stall sound lovely. I always think beeswax polish smells lovely & the fragrance lingers too, so that on returning home, I am reminded that I have polished the dresser! At our wedding, we gave each guest a tiny beeswax candle in their wedding favour bags (among other little things). I remember the bee stallholder's face at the fayre when I bought one of his tiny candles for myself & asked if he could cast me another 50 in time for our wedding!
