Oh rt - that is awful about your friends, I think they may be the ones you told me about recently, no? Sending thoughts out into the ether for recovery for them all.
Indeed, life is precious.
If today is the last day of celebration, then I hope it's a great one, and you get some wonderful treats and activities with DH 😁

@Greying_Pilgrim - yes indeed my dearest, the same couple I'd chatted about with you, very dear friends. I chatted with their eldest daughter yesterday - she and
@beanielou - thank-you so much, it's been a hard day, with everything reminding me of them and all the lovely times we've spent together.
Today was the 'actual' bday, and the last day of my 5 day long weekend. We went to Mottisfont to smell the proverbial & literal roses. It has indeed been a warm spring, with most flowers almost finished their blooms rather than in bud as they were last year. Then a trip into Winchester to try a new Asian fusion café - just lovely, run by a brother & sister team and my kind of independent business. Everything was beautiful, and I almost (but didn't) pull out my phone to take a picture. I can say the freshness and flavour of the items we had were top-notch. We came home and the heat of the day had worn me out, so a nice 2 hour nap, before nipping to Waitflower for a few things as R'vrford let us down and did not deliver a box today.
I'm luxuriating in an entire day of not thinking about anything at the coalface, but do please send positive vibes tomorrow when every last one will be needed!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! @Cherryfudge - oops sorry hun - I missed your post the first time round - Salisbury is really lovely in the old town, full of history and interesting wanderings!
I also forgot to have a natter about yesterday's afternoon activities (as was overwhelmed by the sad news) - we drove up to a PYO past Swindon and filled up a large basket of strawberries! They were so easy to pick as the troughs were munted at waist high and laden with juicey ripe sunkist fruit. We then drove back through the town - definately one to avoid, as it's very rough & full of graffiti - not at all picturesque. We did however stop off at a Goan cafe - absolutely excellent and not a 'curry' in sight! We picked up snacky tea-time bits and drove back via Avebury and had a car picnic looking up the Avenue of stones. Stopped off in Marlborough on the way back and stopped in a few shops. Even the charity shops in that town are posh, though we didn't stop in any of them as was near the end of day& everything was shutting up.4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Awful news about your friends. Yes, life is precious & these things do pull us up short to remind us of that fact every so often.
I have stayed at Avebury a few times & the charity shops in Marlborough generally feature on the agenda at some point while we are there. I've had some good finds.
