Problems reinstalling Windows 10 professional

I am having ridiculous problems reinstalling Windows 10 pro on a new SSD on my main PC
To start with - every time I try - I get stuck in a installation loop from the media creation tool file that I created on USB !
So I tried going via Windows 7 pro (I have a DVD)
This worked and I then tried to go on-line to check for a way to
upgrade - but the adapter drivers were missing - and how do I find them without internet access ?
AAArgh !!
I am now trying Rufus to create a bootable file from the ISO !

I take it you did a backup before starting to 'upgrade' to a new SSD? While disc or selected files?Do you still have a working disc (the one before you tried to install the new SSD ) or was it faulty?Do you have the licence keys for the software you will be installing? At what point do you get into the loop? What are the messages?1

What are the messages? The SSD is being added to the PC - So I still have the original to connect to the PC via USB !It was just too smallThe PC should pick up the licence automaticallyThe loop comes when I get past the full install - it doesn't ask to remove the USB key - but when I do, it "yellow screens".The stupid thing is that I have gone through the procedure literally hundreds of times in the past - but this time it is just not working for me !0

if it's not clear to me exactly where you are getting stuck - are you seeing the desktop for example? if not how far does the installation get?0

This is very odd. USB stick install is the best way of going.
Can you confirm that Windows asks you where you want to install to, and that you're selecting the new SSD drive? (you should be able to match the size of the drive with those listed to help you spot the right one)
If you have any external drives plugged in via USB I'd unplug those to reduce the chance of confusion.0 -
If the old drive was "just too small" did you consider cloning it to the (larger?) SSD rather than clean installing Win 10?New SSDs from the major manufacturers usually come with a link to dedicated cloning software if that is what you want to do.I've done cloning, I've done clean installs, depends on what you want at the time.1

You obviously have internet access on a second device.
