Economy 7 meter timings off

Thanks everyone for all the information so far,
As I predicted the storage heater came on today around 10:30am so looks like our off peak times are around half 10-half 5. We have spoke to edf today thet have said if there is a fault with the meter, they can't reset it remotely due to it being a traditional meter and that we would need to have a smart meter fitted. We are on a traditional pre payment meter, that was here when we purchased the house and we have just never got it changed.
We are concerned edf will try to send us a bill because we will be using higher amount of electricity during the day because our meter thinks it's night time.0 -
That could benefit you if you use high powered items such as the washing machine, cooker, electric shower, kettle etc during the day. If the meter thinks it's night time you'll be charged at night time rates. 😃N_Pars said:We are concerned edf will try to send us a bill because we will be using higher amount of electricity during the day because our meter thinks it's night time.2 -
Also if it's a prepay meter you will be able to see how much it has cost and work out if you are charged at off peak rates when the heaters come on.1

This photo was taken at 16:35, meter changed to day time rate
this picture was taken at 16:33 on night time rate

So could it be that the electrician has upset our meter by doing the work and the meter has come to the end of its life?Scot_39 said:So 5 port digital - no mechanical timer. Many are only 10 or 15 years - and that one is now 15 years+.SO had a quick look -Think its the lineActaris/Schlum/Sangamo/Itron ACE 9000 KBD2E 1 2 2 Multi 1028 15 = certification periodSo now just approx 3 months out as stamped 07.09 (July 2009).
Sorry, not come across this kind of thing before.0 -
Some things dont like being switched on / off as age.The desktop PC I am typing this is so old - the motherboard battery - that keeps the time record going has been replaced - and I have a 12 yr old linux laptop I have to type in the date / time every time it's powered up - very rarely these days. That even assuming it was - as there are still secure tags on meter and fuse carrier - unless your electrician re-tagged the fuse holder.0

I am not sure. I am regretting not taking before pictures. I am not sure what else to do, other than to wait to see what our energy provider says.Scot_39 said:Some things dont like being switched on / off as age.The desktop PC I am typing this is so old - the motherboard battery - that keeps the time record going has been replaced - and I have a 12 yr old linux laptop I have to type in the date / time every time it's powered up - very rarely these days. That even assuming it was - as there are still secure tags on meter and fuse carrier - unless your electrician re-tagged the fuse holder.0 -
If the meter thinks it's night time during the day then you won't get charged extra. The supplier won't even check nor care.1
