Dimplex quantum help - how hot?

You absolutely shouldn't suck it up - this is not the way they are intended to operate, and therefore almost has to indicate some sort of fault - it needs sorting.
If you have not already done so, I would suggest a written formal complaint to Dimplex, encompassing both the false information you were given on the phone, and their failure to make and keep appointments. In your place, I would also be stating in there that with the heater operating outside of the standard laid out in writing by Dimplex, I am concerned that there could be a significant fire risk, and that accordingly I am disappointed that Dimplex have not been more keen to investigate the situation.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

And the answer is… there is heat leakage. What a surprise (not). They are replacing the panel and some bricks that are cracked. I am not impressed by the engineer who fobbed me off on the phone.EssexHebridean said:You absolutely shouldn't suck it up - this is not the way they are intended to operate, and therefore almost has to indicate some sort of fault - it needs sorting.

Presumably this has led to increased heating bills…2 -
Jeez - you have to wonder quite how hot it was getting it there if it’s managed to crack bricks - unless they are suggesting those were cracked on installation but that seems implausible allowing they are replacing without demur now. I do think you probably ought to follow through the complaint regarding that fobbing off though - had you been someone to simply believe that without question not only would you have continued spending far more on heating than you should have been, it also sounds like there was a definite risk of a far worse outcome there.I’m really glad you’re getting a proper resolution on this - hopefully once it is all sorted you’ll find out why so many of us have been delighted with (properly working!) I'd also ask them to test or replace the thermostat if you have cracked bricks.3

That’s a really good point - are you thinking that it suggests that the thermal cut-out may not have been working effectively?Swipe said:I'd also ask them to test or replace the thermostat if you have cracked bricks.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Yes, it's a possibility and could have also warped the panel causing the heat leakage.EssexHebridean said:

I will do - once they have fixed it.EssexHebridean said:Jeez - you have to wonder quite how hot it was getting it there if it’s managed to crack bricks - unless they are suggesting those were cracked on installation but that seems implausible allowing they are replacing without demur now. He implied they were cracked when they were installed, presumably so as to avoid admitting any fault.0 -
Hmmm - if they had genuinely thought that I would have expected them to be referring you back to your installer rather than just replacing.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I think it’s because I’ve kicked up a fuss about how they’ve messed me around. He was vague about why the panel will be replaced though. All parts on order and then of course the blessed thing will need to be off for a few days beforehand so it’s going to be chilly!EssexHebridean said:Hmmm - if they had genuinely thought that I would have expected them to be referring you back to your installer rather than just replacing.1 -
These are good points. I will take note and raise them when they return to fix the thing.Swipe said:
