Dimplex quantum help - how hot?

If your Quantums have only just recently started getting very hot like this whilst charging overnight then it will be due to a fault. Most likely a thermostat related issue.1

If you are putting your hand to the casing and immediately snatching it away again with an “ouch” that is not only too hot (they don’t even get that hot on the exterior when discharging heat) I would suggest that indicates a significant problem with the unit - possibly either missing insulation or the bricks overheating. Both will cost you money, and the second could be a significant fire risk.0

Hi - I think the problem is "very hot" is a bit subjective and means different things to different people. If you're getting nowhere with Dimplex then a local electrician can probably check them over for you. I live in an area where lots of people have night storage heaters and all the electricians round here will have a sense of what's normal, hopefully it's the same where you are.

There is information about them which is extremely clear

so Dimplex really shouldn't be telling you it's fine.
The whole point of a High Heat Retention NSH is that it retains more of the stored heat inside - if yours is getting really hot to the touch while charging, it's clearly not doing that!

AFAIK 12pm always means 12 Noon, as evidenced by electronic equipment that's set to 12H will flip from AM to PM at 12 noon. However, confusion can arise about the definition of midnight, e.g. whether 'Midnight Tuesday' means when Monday becomes Tuesday, or when Tuesday becomes Wednesday. That's why timetables usually avoid showing departures at 0000; the midnight train would be shown as 2359 or 0001 to make clear whether it's considered to be the last train on Tuesday night or first train on Wednesday morning. There can then be no confusion about the validity of restricted tickets.0

Getting a bit off topic but I tend to side with the mixed interpretations / definitions problem for noon and midnight. And if you want to read more on those variations - check out the websites of say - and on both you will find neither RMG (Greenwich) or the NPL standards body - recommends the use or 12pm or 12 am - but 12 noon and 12 midnight. But getting back to topic of Dimplex help documentationIt seems strange for any Dimplex documentation to talk in terms of the 12 pm notation as one assumes they meant midnight for a notional economy 7 based system - like on a 12 hr clock - when for instance critical settings for single wired like the charge time - use the 24 hr clock - and the help example for one straddling midnight - says to split to xx:xx to 23:59 and 00:00 to yy:yy if required.https://help.gdhv.co.uk/support/solutions/articles/79000138589-how-do-i-set-charge-times-on-my-qmrf-Suggesting they in fact - at least in that one respect follow the 12:00 is noon - and the 00:00 is midnight convention.

My call to them yesterday was to find out
exactly when they were coming. I was told it wasn’t clear 😳🙄!
TBH if these had been supplied for me, I’d just suck it up but it was an expensive (supposed) upgrade paid for by myself and right now I see no advantage in a Quantum over my fan assisted storage heater.0
