I posted in the letter box.
Do you mean post box ?
    Yes. Of course 🙄

There's no 'Of course' about it. You said "I posted in the letter box", which sounds as if you took it to the buyer's house and posted it through the door, so Rantband's question was perfectly reasonable.

Why would I travel across the country with purchased postage and physacaly post it through their door and complain about RM not delivering? The last time I checked a post box has a letter aperture.

Tracked 48 is only 20p -80p more than second class LL, I think thats well worth it for piece of mind. Small parcels are only 14p more so really a no brainer.

I rarely use RM48 for under 100g LLs as the cost uplift is high, however, when I buy my labels from eBay and as I said above, at least 75% of the time I get a delivery confirmation.

Edit, standard LL £1.55 tracked 48 £2.70, my buyers wouldn’t pay that for a low cost item.

Another postage purchased through Ebay that has become unreliable.

If purchased via eBay shouldn't the reference number be automatically attached to the order?

If you use standard LL and post at a post box you have no proof of posting or tracking. In this case you will have to self insure, by this I mean factor a in a loss of perhaps 1 in 10 letters. Most of these will be dishonest buyers not RM non delivery. I have found RM collections very reliable with only 1 falure in about 4 years of using it. Why not book a collection and if it fails post at the postbox?

Everyone is talking about the method of posting - whether it was bought via Ebay or RM direct and whether it was tracked or not.
But what about the second issue of a request being opened before the delivery window ends?   I thought one could not open a request till after the estimated delivery time ends.   If that is now allowed, buyers will be opening a request too soon - say in 2 or 3 days when actually these days 2nd class letters are taking over a week to be delivered.  We are not getting our usual dose of letters everyday now - get them in a bundle once a week only.  Our post man says that is because they have been asked to prioritise  parcels and letters get delivered only if there is time.

Well that was really my point. A case was opened against me before the deadline. Ebay always making it harder and harder for the seller while smoothing the way for the byer.

I sell quite a lot on Ebay and I also buy.

Have you kept the buyer informed about when you posted etc.

As a buyer though I would be quite concerned if my seller just told me he had put the item in a post box rather than taking it to the post Office and having no proof of postage or tracking.

The buyer would be automatically  informed I had posted when I purchased the postage via Ebay. I have however sent messages explaining that it was posted (with an image of  the label) and the fact that the window for delivery is still open with no response. I suspect the buyer could be trying to get a freebee

Again, I don't have a post office readily available in my area. RM have let me down in the past not picking up from my door as requested hence why I no longer use that facility.

I have now opened a case with Ebay explaining I didn't offer tracking and asking why they have frozen my funds before the window has closed.
