Hi Biggles
I can understand why you're angry - and well done on keeping all documents.
I'd personally not want to be 'taken to court' - even if it gave me a chance to shame this company.
But then again, I'm not the person who's had so much hassle from Atlas Editions - maybe in your position I'd feel exactly the same .
Do let us know how you get on.0 -
I was collecting the sports car series and cancelled. One month later a further car turned up. I phoned and they apologised and said they would not take the money. A day later the money was taken. I am still waiting to get it back. Be very careful as I cancelled following their instructions which are to phone.:mad:0

I have been having problems with Atlas for a year now,and after ugly threats of legal action,I paid up.But I wish I had kept the packing,I would have sent my seven models back.I am glad to see that other people are having problems with their accounts department.I even wrote to the MD,but got a muddled answer.pedrofishpond0

I knew a dear old pensioner who fell for a similar scam, after 2 years of paying ridiculous bills for junk, not being able to cancel or finalise, I suggested she just outright stops paying.
Her daughter wrote a letter on her behalf warning them that she would not be responsible for any further mail orders from them and had a copy of the letter should it go to court.
It never got to court as a judge would not entertain any company attempting to fleece a pensioner, she had a few Months of warning letters which were shredded and eventually they gave up.
I would advise she does likewise, send a letter of intention to cancel (use confusion as the reason), they will undoubtedly ignore it and send more junk, then send a second letter informing them of the first letter, and that should they send anything else, she will not only "not" be responsible for, but will no longer pay for, post it and cancel the Direct Debit.
Dont let them bully her into submission, if need be, stop opening the mail. If by some freak of chance a judge took it on, there is no way he\she would demand the pensioner remains a paying member, especially if she "twice" demanded they stop (keep copies of letters for proof just in case).
Above all, dont let her worry about it after she posts the second letter, as far as you or she is concerned, it has been canceled, regardless of their idle threats of courts and debt recoveries aimed to scare her into keeping membership.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

A few years ago I too got caught up in the Atlas Editions web.
When they persisted in sending me their items after I had returned the first unrequested ones, I sent then an email stating that I would no longer return their goods but I would safely retain them for their collection for a period of 3 months after which I would treat then as unsolicited gifts. They stopped sending.
The down side is that I now want to buy their Battleships, HOOD and BISMARCK currently on offer (cheap). They will not deal with me despite many many phone calls and confirmations that my order is on their system but nothing ever arrives. I have asked if I am blacklisted and they say I'm not but nothing ever arrives.
One of their telesales personnel actually told me to re-order using a different address!0 -
When I buy things from Atlas I usually only take the initial offers, I then send a cheque for the offer amount with the "No I do not wish to continue" bit in the envelope.
This means that when I know they have paid in the cheque they must have received my cancellation letter / slip!
Thus if anymore arrive I ring them give them 30 days to collect or I bin them!
Have just ordered 2 more starter collections, I will see if they arrive!!0 -

...have you returned?0 -
Hi all,I've just done some googling on them, and the results are awful - scam alert!
Glad you got it sorted but really, have the various posts on here about similar things not taught you anything?
This is a service that someone at some point has signed up to, this does not make it a scam. It makes it a service that the customer did not read all of the info on. Just to avoid potential libel...0 -

How did they get your details to send the unrequested ones? Are they sending them randomly to people on the electoral register or something :question:0
