There are definitely no CCJ's the £287 figure was the second letter which included costs long before CCj action was mentioned.
That's not possible unless that letter was merely listing possible costs.

A letter demanding £287 does mean a CCJ has been obtained.

Just a heads up on this thread. I got an identical penalty notice a couple of months after this. It was the exact same place in exactly the same circumstances as I went through the gap to McDonald's. I ignored all correspondence from them after reading this thread. They are complete and utter lies stating that there is a CCJ against me on 3 different letters. I have checked online and paid for a credit check and there are no records of a CCJ against me. They just bully people into paying. My charge went from the initial £100 to £287! They will never get this from me and can send as many bullying letters as they want. This has been going on for over a year now and there has been no impact to my credit rating as there are no records of CCJ they lied about their client obtaining.

FYI, it wasn't a penalty notice.
Regarding the CCJ, there's a process they have to follow to get one and you would've had to receive a notice from the courts informing you of the case proceeding (don't ignore that!).
Penalty notice, parking charge whatever it was I was just highlighting the fact that they lied about their client obtaining a CCJ against me. This debt collection company are renowned for this. If my post stops one person from paying when they do not need to then it's worthwhile, don't you think?

Yes but your description of your letter tells us you have a CCJ.

You're not grasping the fact that I don't have a CCJ. They lied about this. I used the paid service Trust Online to confirm this on 3 occasions over the last 6 months.

Please can you show us the letter that demanded over £250? If they are lying about a CCJ I'd like to add it to my MHCLG evidence.

This is the last letter I had stating I had not paid a CCJ. I've had 3 of these going all the way back to April 2025.They've even sent the same letter to my son who lives in London (exactly the same name as myself). If I had been issued a CCJ surely I would've heard from the courts by now? I've looked at reviews of DCBL and they constantly lie about obtaining CCJ'S

    They don't.

There's a claim number on that.

One of you has a CCJ. I am sorry. As you share the same name as your son, I'd ring the CNBC Monday morning at 8am and ask for:

    - a copy of the Particulars of Claim. This will show you the VRM involved. I reckon this is your son's CCJ.

    - where was the claim form sent?

    - when was the claim sent?

Just done another Trust Online registry search and there is definitely no CCJ issued against myself at my property which I have lived at for 34 years.

The claim form was sent to my address on 3 occasions My son received one claim letter to his address in London. He now lives in the US and has done so since July last year. The property he vacated is now occupied by a friend and there have been no court letters sent there since he moved. Maybe some other guy with our name has been issued with the CCJ but it's definitely neither of us.

Do you know what I mean by a claim form?

It sounds very much like you are talking about something else. You didn't receive and ignore three Claim Forms, surely?

I don't think you did get claim forms.

I think your son got one (ignored a court Claim Form) and I think this is your son's CCJ. If he permanently lives abroad it won't affect him. This is about his car, I reckon.

Then DCB has seen the family connection and mistraced you, thinking you are the Defendant (your son). Hence they are writing to you instead of the London address because his financial trail has ended in the UK. So they grabbed the straws of your trail instead.

They've jumped to bothering you, in error, because you share a name and older address/area connections.

You must make that phone call to the CNBC. There is a CCJ in a name matching you and the way to work it out is to see the VRM on the Particulars of Claim. I reckon this is about your son's car and you'll see that I'm right.

You will find out this is your son's CCJ and then you can tell DCB Ltd he lives in the USA and you are not the Defendant so they must cease and desist with using your data.

Or, totally ignore them but they are not lying about the CCJ to someone with your name.

However, as it is under £600, no bailiffs will call. Nothing will happen. Unless your name is very common and it is a stranger's car on the Particulars of Claim, I am 99% sure your son has a CCJ but no worries, as long as he isn't planning on needing credit / buying a UK home within 6 years.
