Solicitor sending money

Hi folks was wondering how this would work, basically nearly a year ago a far out relative died, and the usual law of inheritance meant all the assets went to a much closer relative. But last week they just reached out and asked me for my “address, so my solicitor can send the paperwork to you for you to receive money”

and im just wondering what am i now actually wanting on? (They haven’t replied since getting my address) Is it as simple as a cheque or something more complicated?

Sounds like they want to send some forms with your details.  Is the solicitor and payment from the UK?  Can you contact any relatives to confirm this is all genuine?

My wife and I both inherited some money on separate occasions and the solicitors wrote to us explaining what we'd be getting. One of them asked me for my bank details and the other was very old fashioned and insisted on sending a cheque. There was nothing else we had to do as far as i remember. Solicitors always drag their heels so expect a long wait.

Sounds like it's all legit, just wait for the paperwork to confirm your ID and arrange the payment (paid to your account, or cheque).
