Does anybody know when the flushing of the system is carried out ?
Before or After the new boiler and rads are fitted ?
I assume/hope  AFTER - because the hallway rad is not working correctly and is going to be replaced anyway but the pipework to this rad will need to be flushed as well - and with the rad not allowing free flow of water - it's not going to be flushed.....
From earlier in the thread, it was suggested that the radiator may not be blocked, but that the system needs rebalancing.
Have you tried switching off all radiators except the one causing the problem ( with the boiler on of course). If it stays cold there is a probably a blockage. If it heats up then, it is probably a system balancing issue.

No we did not get round to doing that - but on Thursday, we are getting a new double rad fitted in place of the troublesome (single) one anyway and assume that BOXT will balance the whole system anyway.....
  • Lets close this discussion for now
I will report back on Friday when the work is finished
  • So far - not looking too good
BOXT were supposed to be coming tomorrow but they emailed me this morning to put off the installation until next Tuesday (a bereavement)
So their NEXT DAY service is not exactly true !!
  • Update:
BOXT have sent a subcontractor to do the boiler and radiator change
The equipment was delivered on time (6:50 am) by a "man in a van" but without the radiators !!
The engineer is currently removing the old boiler with a strong smell of burning !!
    Will update later

I would have assumed all their jobs are subbed out to local engineers?

    Hope everything goes well

At the moment everything is going OK
  • All finished and he's gone
It appears to be a good job but time will tell!

Wasn't around long enough to balance the radiators. Bet he left the pump running at full speed too.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

Wrong on both counts - he finished in 4 1/2 hours, he balanced the rads and went through the workings of the remote and turned off the boiler when he had finished
Sorry - but despite a bad start - I am fairly impressed with BOXT
I paid a fair price and got a decent working heating system

I'm sure you already know this, but the pump speed isn't controlled from your remote. Properly balancing takes a bit of time. If you mean all the radiators got warm/hot and you are happy with it then happy days, the easiest way to do that is ramp the pump speed up so it pushes hot water around, unfortunately that doesn't mean it is balanced
