Shame about sons job; at least if he’s gutted it may spur him on to finding another?

He’s on the books of an agency. The problem he faces is that he’s 17 and most full time jobs specify 18 or over. He doesn’t want retail or catering (social anxiety) so a student type job is unlikely.

He's having a rough time of it. His Dad has kicked him out, so he’s with me full-time now.

Could he do some Voluntary Work, even temporarily? Charity shops are always looking for staff to sort everything in the back room, or Foodbanks to do the setting up, so minimal interaction.

I’ve suggested it, but he’s too money motivated to give up his slobbing time for free.  I’ve found him a local charity that would provide him with voluntary work in different areas, but his attitude is all wrong, and he’s refused the opportunity.

There’s the possibility he might get more warehouse work, closer to home, next week.

Got to my Dad today and was shocked to see how much weight he has lost since the summer.

its not a tooth abscess, it’s trigeminal neuralgia. A very painful facial nerve condition. He’s had the pain for two months and it’s made it hard for him to eat or sleep.  Thankfully he has been prescribed the correct medication and that has started to work.

I’m so glad I had £100 in the EF. That and some payments from Vinted enabled me to buy flights and airport parking.  I have £42 to last until payday on the 13th.  I just need petrol and cash to buy coffee for client meetings (can claim that back), plus top up milk and bread shopping.

I’m pretty sure all known bills are paid.

Roll on the day that outgoings reduce and I’m not scrabbling for pennies. Had to split my quick top up shop yesterday between credit cards (each with less than £3 available!) and ASDA vouchers. I paid for milk on one card, bread on another, and frozen pizza on vouchers!!

Oh do feel for your Dad, and you. That’s apparently one of the worst pains known to mankind. The slightest breeze can exacerbate it.Hope the medication is bringing some relief.

He’s suffering from electric shock type pain that hits out of nowhere. He was weighed today and is over 3st lighter than when weighed 2 years ago. He’s 8st 9lb, which is lighter than me, and he says I need to eat more!

I’ve got him a dietician appointment for tomorrow afternoon. Shows how a well resourced National health service (well, sort of), can run. He’d be waiting weeks for an appointment in the UK. He pays a small amount for each visit to a doctor or specialist (€6) up to a maximum of €250 per year (that total includes hospital stays and tests). The health service is what I call “pay low as you go”. GPs are based in hospitals and the GP walks my Dad to an X-ray or blood test there and then if he requires one. The results are sent straight to the GP, who then rings a specialist for advice. Specialist appointments are made for days after the GP requests one. He just turns up at the GP and is seen!

I worried about healthcare when my parents moved abroad, but since this new system was introduced, I’ve been very impressed. That said, if I had to pay for each medical appointment for a family, it could work out pricey. There’s a balance between our underfunded free at the point of use healthcare, and the pay-low-as-you-go but be seen quickly care here.
